CAPE TOWN: FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Leaving my beloved Switzerland was hard, but of course I was excited. Excited for summer, excited to meet new people and explore new places and excited to learn english. I left Zurich on first of January, a new journey punctually for a new year. I’ve been here for a few weeks already and can say I finally feel like home here. It takes time adapting to a new city. Specially Cape Town, since it’s so diverse and nothing like Europe.

I choose Cape Town because of it’s diversity. There are mountains to hike up to, beaches for tanning and there’s lots of culture going on here as well. It has so much to offer I thought, and I was right. Because after my third week, I’m still not bored. The good thing about a language stay like I’m doing with Boa Lingua is that you usually have lots of weeks in the place you choose. (Depends on the English Course you take). I’m here for 10 weeks and it’s amazing knowing you don’t have to stress out and see all the amazing spots in one week. You have time, you can literally go with the flow, be spontanious and mostly do things you like, more than once.

My first weeks consisted of hiking up Lions Head, visiting several Beaches, and just getting used to Cape Town. This all with my new friends that I’ve met here in the EC Language class.  Since I haven’t been in school for two years, having lessons again is so much fun, also the whole bonding moments we have as a class is something I’ve missed. It’s so nice, being a big group of fun people having a good time.

There are many things to keep in mind while you’re staying here. It’s ranked one of the most dangerous cities, but if you adapt, and take care you’ll be fine. So far nothing bad happend to me (expect food poisoning last night). The people are very friendly and lively here. You can see people dancing and playing music everywhere, it truly makes you feel like wanting to stay here forever. Unfortunately my forever takes me only 7 weeks further..but I can’t wait to tell you about my adventures!
