3 suits of dreadnought armour with order guide, from White Dwarf 95, November 1987; £3.50 each; when ordering direct you could specify the desired weapon arms, body style, and legs; the 40mm square base was standard

Heroes for Wargames

Stewart Parkinson Paper Tiger, 1986

A book about miniatures and tabletop miniatures wargames. Published by Paper Tiger in partnership with Games Workshop, focusing almost exclusively on Citadel miniatures and Games Workshop games.

Notable today for featuring photos of Space Marines (called "Deep Space Mercenaries" in HfW) a year before the debut of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and sketches of the Slann over a decade before the first Lizardmen army was released for Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

Gary Gygax endorsed Citadel Miniatures’ line of official D&D/AD&D miniatures, licensed by TSR, White Dwarf 69, September 1985 (edit--with John Blanche box art behind him).  This range was released in June 1985 and was only in production for 18 months before the license went to Ral Partha.  The 4 box sets were labeled “Dungeons & Dragons” while the 58 blister packs said “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.”  Sculptors included Alan and Michael Perry, Aly Morrison, Bob Naismith, Jes Goodwin, and Nick Bibby.

Some space mercenaries/cyberpunk gangers from the Combat Zone range, now available from EM4 Games, formerly from a group called Paladin Publishing. I believe these were sculpted by Bob Naismith, late of Citadel Miniatures and probably best known for creating the look of the original Space Marines. Quite pleased with most of these - with the exception of yer man in the green overcoat, I should have picked out the bandolier in a colour other than ‘different shade of green’.
