“Will you marry me?” Your eyes lit up and an uncontrollable smile spread across your face. You nodded frantically before his hands gently pushed the ring onto your finger.
That was 4 years ago now. You had been happily married for 3 years and you couldn’t have imagined your life any other way. You walked through you and your husbands flat in the early morning, letting your finger swipe across the spines of your books. You sat down by the window and opened your laptop, seeing another news headline about the curious magicians that had taken the world by storm. You smiled at the photo attached before you heard the door unlock. You sat up, closing your laptop as your husband walked in. “Hi baby.” You smiled at the man standing in his leather jacket. “Hey hun, wanted to come say hi before the big show. It’s gonna be in New Orleans tonight so the flight should be leaving soon. Asking one more time if there’s any way for me to convince you to come with?” You smiled, stepping closer to Jack and wrapping your arms around his neck letting them trace his hair and neck before resting on his chest. His hands found their usual place on your hips as he leaned in to give you a small kiss. “Baby I have work and school, I’m almost finished though so I’ll be free when you get back, I promise.” You smiled at him as his face fell in slight disappointment. “I know I know, I just wish you could come. I was looking at flights all night. They’re honestly not too pricey if you had changed your mind. Maybe you can do your work there!” You smiled, caressing his cheek before laying a soft kiss to his lips. “I’ll think about it.” He nodded. “I’ll send you the details.” You nodded before hugging him, letting your head rest on his shoulder. He held onto you tightly before picking you up. You exclaimed a small yelp before giggling and wrapping your legs around his waist. “God I love you so much it’s unbearable that you aren’t always with me.” You smiled, giggling and running your hands through his hair, scratching gently at the back of his head. He leaned into your touch, enjoying the sensation. “I love you too hun, and trust me I wish I could be there too.” “Then come, please please please? I can find somewhere to meet you before and after the show!” You sighed, weighing your responsibilities here in New York before meeting your husband's gorgeous coffee bean eyes. “Ok ok, I see if Michelle can cover a few shifts. I’ll bring my laptop too so I can do schoolwork.” Jack beamed with victory before bringing you over to the couch and setting you down. He climbed over you, peppering kisses all over your face and down your neck, his hand resting at the edge of your shirt. His slender fingers grazed underneath the shirt, softly resting on your stomach. “I love you so much.” He whispered between kisses. You smiled, your hands scratching at the back of his head before pulling it to your face and connecting your lips with his. He kissed you gently before feeling his phone ring in his back pocket. He sighed and hung his head in defeat, resting it on your chest for a moment. He slowly got up and picked up the phone. On the other end you could hear Atlas asking him where he was. “Yeah yeah, I’m on my way. Had to go take care of something first.” He winked at you before grabbing a bag by the door. “Chill out dude I’ll be there in 5.” You giggled before your own phone buzzed, Jack had sent you the flight details and the details of his hotel room. You sat up and called Michelle, your coworker that always had your back. No one at your job knew of your husband; they just knew you were married and very in love. She agreed to take your shifts and you began to pack, booking your flight beforehand.
The flight was boring, you did work for school the whole way and attended to a few emails as well. Eventually you found yourself in New Orleans, deboarding the plane with your bag and making your way to a cab that brought you to the Savoy. Jack had told you to meet him by the back entrance so he could see you before the show. You made your way around the beautiful building where you saw Jack, standing by a door marked CREW. His eyes lit up the second he saw you and he immediately brought you into a big hug. “Are you nervous for the show?” He shook his head. “Nope, it’s all planned to perfection.” You smiled and nodded, kissing his cheek. “I’ll be at the hotel waiting then.” With that you said your goodbyes and made your way to the hotel.
You took a nap before working on some more homework, ordering some chinese food to be delivered to your room. After a few hours you heard the door unlock and Jack walked through with a big grin. He seemed slightly out of breath but quickly settled in the bed next to you. He pulled you over to him as he laid on the pillow. Your heart softened seeing him so tired. He was like a little puppy dog, tired from running around and playing all day. You gently petted his head before laying down with him and drifting off to sleep, held by Jack and listening to his soft breathing.
You woke up to three voices, slowly opening your eyes to see a man in a hat, a smile across his whole face. Jack was still beside you but behind him you saw another man with shaggy hair and an annoyed look on his face. From around the corner you heard a woman, Henley walked out from the corner and smiled at you. “All I’m saying is he should’ve told us. He knows we are flying out early today.” Atlas grumbled. Merritt rolled his eyes before looking back at you. “Sorry about him hun, he’s always got something up his ass.” Atlas let out a dry fake laugh. “Haha very funny.”He then nudged Jack. “Come on Wilder, time to wake up.” Jack stretched and his eyes fluttered open, he smiled at you before seeing Merritt and sitting straight up. “Woohoo, good morning Mr. Loverboy. Whose this??” Merritt teased. Henley still stood smiling, leaning against the wall. “Oh give him a break Merritt.” Jack cleared his throat and looked at you before smiling that cute guilty smile of his. “Uh morning guys..” You looked between the three magicians before glancing at Jack. “Ok, guess I’ll introduce myself.” You shook Merritt's hand and saw as his eyes fixed on your wedding band. “You must be Jack’s wife.” He smiled, you nodded. Jack looked at Atlas with apology written all over his face before getting out of the bed. “Uh, yeah. This is Y/N, my high school sweetheart.” Henley made her way to you and shook your hand. “It’s so nice to meet you. We were wondering who or what Jack kept sneaking off to.” You smiled before also getting out of the bed. Atlas gave you a wave before looking at Jack again. “We need to go, we have to get to the plane. You can see her back in New York.” Merritt’s eyebrows furrowed and he shook his head. “Oh no, she’s definitely gotta come with us. It’d be so rude not to have her with us knowing she’s Jack’s special someone!” Henley nodded. “We can help you both pack up and we’ll head to the plane together.” Jacksmiled at Henley and Merritt before looking at you. “Let’s get packed then.” The few minutes it took for you and Jack to pack up you could see Atlas angrily grumbling in the corner.
Before long all 5 of you were headed off to the plane and you all took your seats. The flight was spent with everyone asking you all the questions they could think of about you and Jack. You were sitting next to him, holding his hand and letting his head rest on your shoulder. It was a relief that the horsemen knew now. You knew you wouldn’t be in on the shows or their higher plan but it was nice knowing Jack didn’t have to lie anymore. You glanced at Jack, who had fallen back to sleep and smiled, looking at the other horsemen and their fun dynamics. It was reassuring that everyone was so chill about y’alls marriage, even Atlas began warming up to you. You settled with Jack, resting your head on his and closing your eyes, knowing you could always be happy with your husband.
