He [Bob Relf] was a key player on the L.A. music scene, writing many a tune for the Mirwood group of labels, mostly with partner Earl Nelson (aka Jackie Lee), he also recorded as Bobby Angelle on Money, TKO and Imperial records
His moment of triumph is this epic from 1968 for the independent Trans-American label. The strings make it, and the chorus is about as Northern Soul as you could get
