Anybody still think about how the deepest and purest expression of Mandalorian love and respect is also one of their most iconic combat moves to knock an opponent out.
I think something that fundementally altered my brain chemistry is a fic I read (I can't remember which one) that intentionally referred to the Fetts' ship as The Slave Won and the GALAXY BRAIN move that is . . .
Jango Fett, the man who was enslaved by chains and memories and trauma who raised a son with a gentler heart than him who he loved with his whole being, and even in death Jango was able to take his revenge on those who massacred his people. Boba Fett, the cherished son, the boy enslaved by violent grief and a father's legacy, who finds work with Jabba the Hutt, a titan of the slave trade who doesn't let his prizes go easily, and Darth Vader, a man with iron control over everything and everyone around him. He dies and is reborn fromt he sarlac and wars with his pride and ego and grief to finally free himself of the shackles and remake a planet of pain into his own kingdom to rule over fairly and justly.
In the end, The Slave Won.
THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT CAME OUT 4 YEARS AGO!!!
What if Boba Fett came back wrong from the sarlacc? Not wrong in the sense that suddenly he's got half-baked morals, nonono. The sarlacc (at least in legends) likes to fuck with you. With your head. It's a conscious being you can hear in your mind, a collective of lost souls all gathered in the great pit. It wants to make you part of it. It feeds on your suffering. Now take Boba Fett, a legendary bounty hunter. He's lethal and effective, but he's human. A fatal flaw for most. What if the sarlacc attempted to fix that? What if the sarlacc twisted his mind? What if the collective escaped through him? It could use him as a lure, bringing more victims to its great maw to feast on their shattered thoughts. In return, it allows (forces) him to be something more than just a man. Something is off about his gait when he walks. Something is off about how he stands, how he holds his rifle. Something is off with his voice, his mannerisms, something is off about him. Not in the obvious or showy ways, in the subtle ways that tickle the back of gossip's brains. So they whisper to others, "Boba Fett came back from the sarlacc less human than he went in." And of course people are like "duh he was eaten by a monster thats gonna fuck you up" but they have no idea. Boba is still there; he's still every bit present in his body. But there are times when an unseen force compels him to be a little more violent, a little more reckless, a little more bloodthirsty. He can still hear the whispers of the lost souls from the pit of Karkoon, but it's probably just his imagination. He knows something is wrong but he can't pinpoint what, and that scares him. He's used to knowing every in and out of himself; he knows why he was made, who he was made for, and he knows all of Jango, therefore he knows all of himself. So why is something wrong? This is kinda a scattered post and its more of just word vomit and I hope it makes sense :3 may make this an au if i get the motivation to draw it lmao
