Padawan Cal encounters an echo in the Temple, and the memory of it stays with him.
Then Knight Vos kneels, takes Cal's hands in his gloved ones, looking into Cal's eyes, searching for something. Cal's not sure if he finds it, but he tries to stand tall under the scrutiny anyway.
"Can you feel the echoes here, Padawan?" Knight Vos says. Cal nods, and the knight gives him a tight smile.
"This room is set aside for my training," Knight Vos says. "Knights and Masters alike use it when they have strong emotions they must release into the Force, and they often leave echoes of that here, written on the objects scattered around for that use. Does it press on your skull, youngling? Do you feel the weight of memory resting on your soul?"
"Knight Vos," Master Tapal says, "have a care."
"With respect," Knight Vos says, rising, not eye to eye with Master Tapal, but as close as he can be, "I cannot help but care."
I’m kicking things off with two chapters because I just couldn’t help myself. Enjoy!
