For those of you who don’t know this, for years(well let’s face it still an every day struggle) I battled bulimia and body dysmorphic disorder. More so during my teen years I was constantly obsessing over the next binge and purge. I haven’t binged and purged since July 2015 by the grace of God. The amount of time I have spent obsessing over unhealthy ways to lose weight in my 23 years of life is absolutely absurd. My body dysmorphia constantly has me critiquing every little thing about myself wether it’s my skin, my hair, my arms, my stomach, or my feet. I often see things physically that aren’t even really there. I am trying so hard to love myself and the body that I was given as I am raising two beautiful little girls who are watching my every move and are listening to every word that comes out of my mouth. My eating disorder tendencies started at such a young age watching my mother(who I thought was an invincible beautiful princess), family, and close friends critique themselves and their physical appearance. Seeing people who I thought were so beautiful calling themselves blemished, unattractive, and fat made me constantly obsess over my weight and the way I looked as I knew I was by no means as beautiful as they were so I must have been pretty damn unattractive and flawed if they’re stating that they are incredibly physically unattractive and flawed. I so badly want my girls(and Jack too!) to realize how incredibly beautiful they are both inside and out and that they don’t ever have to follow the modern day stereotype of what beauty is. Earlier, I had a moment of confidence. A moment where I felt okay with exactly what I looked like. Okay with my stretch marks, my mom pouch, my skin, my flat feet, and everything in between. This was that moment. Everyday, challenge yourself(even when it seems impossible!) to find at least one thing you can say you love about yourself. Over time you will begin to fall in love with who you are and the beauty that is you.❤️☀️ #EDawareness #bulimiarecovery #bodydysmorphiarecovery #fightthegoodfight (at Aurora, Illinois)
