Do you always make that face when you're studying?
more than meets the eye | derek and caroline
It wasn't often that someone with Caroline's level of organisation and concentration got lost in their own head. It happened so rarely to her, she hardly ever daydreamed, always focused on the task at hand, unwilling to let a single thing get by her. It was a part of her eagerness to succeed at everything she tried, the fear of failure too great to allow a lapse in concentration. But that was exactly what had happened to her this afternoon, and it wasn't while she was safely holed up in her bedroom, or a classroom, or even the training rooms in her faction. No. She had been out on patrol training with her classmates, and now she was lost.
She cursed herself for letting her mind wander, but it seemed to be something that had been happening more and more frequently since her conversation with Stiles the other day. Caroline couldn't understand how you could tell a person that you loved them and then leave for a whole month. Sure, it had surprised her at first, but the more she thought about it and the more she missed him, the more she wanted to be with him. The distance was killing her, and clearly it was starting to influence other parts of her life too.
Caroline let out a long sigh as she took in her surroundings, trying to figure out exactly where she was and when she had started to lose the group, her eyes landing on a figure a few feet away from her. Not expecting anyone to be around, she jumped a little, but quickly relaxed when she saw who it was. "Derek?"
Para: Damon + Cora - Shelter
He needed these walks... sometimes he just needed to outside for a while, away from all the trouble, having a clear head for once. Even when that head was pounding a bit. Maybe he shouldn't have stayed so long at the Red Eyed Hawk yesterday. He was used to quite a bit of alcohol, but this time he felt that he had been drunk, and he didn't like it. Add that to a council meeting this morning, and he could say he had had better days in the past.
Suddenly he felt a drop falling on his head, and then another one. He lookedd up, seeing the sky totally dark. He must have missed that when he was walking, sunk in his own thought. "Damn it...", he muttered, and he looked around for shelter. There weren't many trees in this part of where the factionless lived, so he made his way towards a seemingly abandoned house. He knew that didn't give any guarantees on it being really abandoned, but he could always give it a try.
He walked in, enjoying the fact that he wasn't getting wet anymore, letting his eyes adjust to the dark. When he heard a sound in the corner of the room, he immediately turned around, alert on who he'd find there. It still wasn't safe to walk around here, even for a council representative. When he saw the familiar outlines of a girl, he lost his vigilance though. He knew her, and even when they couldn't be exactly named friends, they weren't enemies either. She was kind of a mystery though, suddenly appearing among the factionless, just a couple of months ago. "Cora...", he said when he walked towards her. "How nice of you to offer me the hospitality of your house when it rains outside."
He winked at her, knowing that just presenting things as a fact worked with a lot of people. Now he got closer, he could see what she was doing. Not that that should come as a surprise. Whenever he met the girl, she was either working out or using her sharp tongue. And the fact that he hadn't heard her speak when he came in, must mean that she was doing the first. He sat down on the floor not far from where she was."I see you still can't get enough of working out?"
"I wasn't prepared for this weather. Help."
You're not telling me you're hanging out here today?
This is stupid and I refuse to participate.
Slacking off again, Hale?
Come on... I can never walk home again without taking a wrong turn? I'm lost. Again.
