Here's an old one from right after college, probably 2001 or 2002 (in spite of the copyright notice, which was added later). It's called Guardian 2 and is a follow-on to a gigantic door poster that I made for my dorm room in college. I actually matted the door poster, which made it 4x7 feet, and that thing was a PITA to tote around (and a pain to mat, if I'm honest - but the challenge was part of the fun). This piece, on the other hand, was much smaller - 11x14 or so.
I made this with one of the mixed media approaches that I favored at the time - watercolor, India ink, and colored pencil. The dragon was watercolored first, then detailed with ink and Prismacolors. The background was inked solidly in black, then details were brought out with blue and gray Prismacolors. I really want to get back to this technique again - I love the effect of the colors against black.
