The Suriel and The Under King
the under king and the suriel are the same species. They have to be.
This is the description of the Suriel:
“ tall, thin veiled figure in dark tattered robes”
“A face that looked like it had been crafted from dried, weatherworn bone, its skin either forgotten or discarded”
“eyes that were nothing more than swirling pits of milky white—the white of death”
“stained, too large brown teeth visible”
“ it’s lipless mouth held too large teeth, and it’s fingers — long, spindly—”
“ the Suriel had no eyelids.”
this is the description of the Under King :
“A creature, tall and thin and robed,”
“A desiccated corpse, half-rotted and crowned with gold and jewels, observed them. Hideous beyond belief, yet regal. Like a long-dead king of old left to rot in some barrow”
“He grinned, exposing too-large brown teeth.”
“ the lipless mouth pulled back”
“milky, lidless eyes”
“His eyes-his dead, milky eyes-fixed”
“The Under-King waved a bony hand.”
still not convinced?
This is the suriel’s voice: “ at once one and many, old and young, beautiful and grotesque.”
this is the under King’s voice : “voice simultaneously ancient and youthful but cold and dry,”
now listen to these descriptions :
The under king :
“black robes drifting on a phantom wind.”
A reaction to the Under King: “Something primal in him screamed to run, to bow, to fall on his knees and beg.”
The Suriel:
“ those tattered robes flitted on a phantom wind”
A reaction to the Suriel: “ run, some primal, intrinsically human part of me whispered. Begged. Run and never look back.”
You cannot tell me I’m wrong
