My Christmas gift to my brother. I carved out the design then stained it using a mixture made of food coloring. In the close up pic you can see a bit of shine from my polishing, I'm so happy.
[Image Description: Three photos of a buck deer skull that has been carved to bear two designs. The first design sits on the forehead and is a Celtic square knot. The second design is a triple infinity twist that goes down the nose. Both designs are carved with the blank spaces as holes and the raised lines stained a bright, light green.]
^is that how I do image descriptions?
New video tutorial about staining bones with tea/coffee is now up on my YouTube @ Rhaveyn of the Woods ☕️ This one was requested by a lovely viewer quite a while ago now so I'm happy to finally have this finished! 💀
Fresh out of a tea stain bath
You can see how each bone and each part of the bone takes the stain different. Fun thing about bone staining is that you NEVER know what the end result will be<3 These results were done with a couple old black tea bags, an old mason jar and some hot water.... left them over night and this was the end result.
Newly stained bones are dry now. And wow did that color darken! Second photo has some of my other stained bones, and three unstained for comparison.
Anybody know how to dye a skull pink? I want to get a cat skull and dye it for my friend who's got that aesthetic, but I haven't seen anything about synthetic dyes in bone staining??
