can you do a rec post so i know wtf logh is and can mentally note to myself "oh, i should try that some time" before never, ever getting around to anything with 110 episodes? just asking
These are two equally touching reactions to my midnight spree and I’m grateful. um, LOGH is an anime set in crapsack far-future where the only two major political entities are the evil space empire and the evil imploding parafascist democracy... and... they fight. for as long as they are still capable. It’s my ideal half-tablespoon of worldbuilding. OUR HEROES are two military prodigies/sorta competent people from these opposing sides: the empire-half protagonist is REINHARD VON LOHENGRAMM, a teenager whose interest in conquering all of known space is just a stepping-stone to saving! his concubine sister! from the Emperor! and later Filling That Gnawing Spoilery Emptiness In His Heart, He Doesn’t Know What That Could Be. The hero of democracy is Yang Wenli, an adult man who spends all his screentime working to (at worst) justify and (at best) distract from his ongoing decision to defend his shitty country, sometimes with reasoned argument but often just by being that klutzy and adorable, like Bella Swann
There’s also an interesting and varied supporting cast, composed of some thousand-odd dudes and almost ten named women. Super super 80s. It’s very funny and self-indulgent in, like, that special way that only anti-war milhist porn can be, and I’m not going to attach a comprehensive list of warnings/caveats, because I don’t want to scare you off thinking about watching and then not watching 110 episodes. that would be terrible.
