how do you think Kai would have earned Bonnie's forgiveness if all that shit hadn't happened in season 6?
When I see the way Plec handled Bonnie and Enzo's story, I think the storyline would fit better with Kai, because Bonkai had a connection and a link between the Gemini and Bennett clans. Besides, Enzo never showed any kind of interest in Bonnie before season 7. It makes more sense that Kai, in order to gain his trust and forgiveness, would kidnap Bonnie to save her. Sometimes I believe that Plec just took a storyline and adapted it in the way she saw fit, because she didn't have a purpose for Enzo in the show, so she made Bonnie be associated with Enzo. I don't think she saw potential in either of them, she just wanted to fill the gaps in the story with Nina's departure and didn't want the audience to see Bonnie and Damon as a romantic potential. So she used Bonnie and Enzo for that. And in the end she just killed Enzo because she was just using both of them.
