Why did we, as a fandom, never decide to dictate the Jace's by their surnames?

Like Jace has... four different last names?

So, why not mark them by where we left them; such as;

Movie!Jace is Jace Morgenstern [bc that's where we left that version of Jace's story]

TV!Jace is Jace Herondale [bc that's that last surname he's given]

and

Book!Jace is Jace Lightwood

like?? that whole delicate features/longish blonde hair vibe really helps with the whole “he’s actually just 16” part of it.

not to hate on dom sherwood but he wasn’t as much of an aged up character as the rest of them. he was just kinda annoying (i don’t really like jace tbh)

Book!Jace wasn't the epitome of patriarchal evil and bad romance tropes, he was a teenage boy expressing trauma in an actually very common, typical way that reflected the environment and people he came from which despite being a kind of trope is still very real and I will die on this goddamn hill

So I couldnt really get into TMI that much in highschool (although i didnt read them all, i got to the last one) and i couldnt figure out why until I read a chapter or so recently bc i wanted to see if something was in the books from the show and i couldnt remember.

Book!Jace reminds me of my abuser :) :) :) They both said the same stuff and about being ‘fucked up’, took joy in hurting people etc.
