So let me get this straight, in a book series where the story will go into graphic detail about how the cats rip each other apart and describes things like rivers of blood, but somehow it's the age gap relationships that cause the massive controversies?? Bruh what the fuck

I wonder when girls who read will start loving wlw as much as they love mlm. Unless I'm just following the wrong 600+ blogs (who are 75% women)......it's depressing seeing people's love for boys in relationships with other boys, but never the girls. To me, it still stands at a point where all I see are girls having a fetish over boys loving boys.

It is 2021, I think the Harry Potter fandom can stop bullying people for liking a character and insulting a dead man now. Honestly, it's just sad.
I just discovered a webnovel set in 1970s communist Hungary. Since my parents personally lived through that era I decided to read it and see how badly the author got things wrong. The first warning sign: the author is American (and not Hungarian-American). Second warning: they proudly declare they're a communist. My expectations were low but God it didn't even meet them. Everyone has plenty of food, no one's even heard of housing shortages, and the protagonist can go on holiday to Canada. Wost of all the novel got positive comments (from other Americans obviously).
Humanize authors. They haven't gone through every possible outcome their story could have. They haven't considered every single little detail and thought through every scene. It's impossible for their story to be 100% historically or culturally accurate. It's hard to create a story, and the writer is trying their best, believe me. As long as they aren't promoting hate or anything the like, be lenient with them.
Author: I'm [ethnicity] and our culture's traditionally closed to outsiders, but our numbers are shrinking and we don't want to our culture to disappear. So I'm writing about it with the permission of our community's leaders
People who aren't [ethnicity]: How DARE you? Obviously you're not really from that culture at all!

The novel's protagonist is white, the TV version racebent her. Now any fanart that shows her novel-accurate appearance gets the artist accused of racism and whitewashing. Including fanart made before the series was even announced, back when the character's original appearance was the only canon version of her.
Some fans of a book insist on calling the author Black. She’s mixed-race and says she doesn’t identify as Black. These fans attack anyone who points this out. Some even send her hate mail because they think she’s racist for not identifying as Black. Then they claim they’re progressive and anti-racist for speaking over her.
