Die Welt von Orléans ist eine Welt, die nach Schönheit strebt, aber von Hässlichkeit bestimmt wird. Die einzigen die den Menschen Schönheit schenken können, sind die Belles. Zu ihnen gehört auch Camelia, sie will unbedingt für den Palast als Belle und damit auch als Favoritin arbeiten. Dazu muss sie die Beste sein, allerdings findet sie in diesem Wettkampf immer mehr Geheimnisse, dunkle Seiten und die wahre Hässlichkeit dieser Welt heraus. Diese Welt ist gefährlicher als sie ahnte und sie gehört zu den wenigen, die vielleicht daran etwas ändern könnten ... Ich bin ja ein totaler Blumencover - Fan, also wow einfach der Hammer! Die Geschichte an sich finde ich unglaublich spannend, alleine weil es eine ganz neue Fantasy Richtung ist, faszinierend und grauenhaft zugleich. Camelia ist ein sehr interessanter Charakter und ich kann ihren Ehrgeiz sehr gut nachvollziehen, da es mir früher teilweise ähnlich ging. Allerdings ist sie mir manchmal etwas zu gutgläubig, aber das wäre ich an ihrer Stelle in so einer Welt vielleicht auch. Der Schreibstil ist sehr angenehm, blumig und einfach richtig toll, so dass man nicht aufhören kann zu lesen. Außerdem geht dieses Buch kritisch mit Schönheitswahn um, meiner Meinung nach auch ein Problem unser Gesellschaft. I’ll Give You the Sun: Review

“We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story”

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson is SUCH a good fiction book. It perfectly combines all elements of romance, representation, growing up, tragedy, and family.

I’ll Give You the Sun follows twins, Noah and Jude, from age 13 to age 16. The earlier years of their lives are told by Noah and the later years are told by his sister, Jude. In the earlier years, Noah and Jude are so close that they are typically referred to as “NoahandJude” and are practically inseparable. However, in the later years, they aren’t as close. In fact, they’ve almost all out stopped talking to each other and ignore the other's presence. How much can happen in 3 years that causes 2 best friends to act like the other doesn’t exist?

Going back and forth through the years reveals so much and causes so many different plot twists. I’ll Give You the Sun is another good book that includes the LGBTQ+ community in a way that doesn’t seem weird and forced. There are so many themes in this book and, normally, it would seem confusing and clutter the book but it works out pretty well. The romance is sort of a sub-theme while the major theme is family and how everything can fall apart.

I’ll Give You the Sun was recommended to me by a couple friends who said it was their favorite book and, after reading it, while it’s not my favorite book, it definitely makes it onto the list.

This is such an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone.
