TABINOF CRAZINESS 2.0

I feel a little inappropriate posting this and being so incredibly enthusiastic about TABINOF. Since I haven’t been a massive fan of D&P for very long... Still I need to get rid of all these feels. 

There are so many things that I felt when I opened my mailbox this afternoon. First one was rage because I couldn’t get the box to open. Followed by confusion as it appeared that I had received two parcels. I ran up the stairs (I actually have to go downstairs to get my post) with my two precious babies. I also randomly ran into someone I knew from secondary school but thankfully that awkward encounter was quite short (and really darn awkward).

When I got inside by cat (Sherlock) popped his head up from his afternoon nap and looked at me in confusion. “I AM SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS” I squealed, but the cat didn’t seem interested enough to stay awake. So which one do I open first? I only ordered one book, so maybe the other one has like a special surprise in them? I couldn’t wait any longer and started tearing apart the cardboard boxes. Turned out I GOT TWO COPIES OF THE BOOK!!! I immediately checked the website to look for the order information. Turns out: They only charged ONE! It was my lucky day today!

So I got two copies of the book and decided to give one to my best friend, who is also a big Dan and Phil fan (I’m such a good friend sometimes). So I wrote a little card and put it in one of the copies and wrapped it (why the fudge do I even do that?)

Now, I had three hours to spare and a newly required, nicely smelling, book that I waited for for over a month. Wild guess on what I would do with those three hours. Yep. That’s right. Total immersion. My oh my was that an emotional rollercoaster. Let’s start at the beginning.

ATTENTION THE REST OF THIS MESSAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS OF THE TABINOF BOOK!! PLEASE DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DON’T WANT ANY SPOILERS!!!!! and if you do, then by all mean read on and enjoy the rollercoaster of my emotions.

First thing I saw when I opened the book was the top half of Dan’s face, which is NEVER a bad way to start a book. The next thing is a collage of lots and lots of feels. Including fetus Dan and Phil that are actually so adorable that I want to squeeze their cheeks. The collage is filled with nice little snippets of Dan and Phil’s lives and I could watch it for hours and never get bored. It like a ‘where is Waldo?’ thing.

The intro is lovely. Dan being his adorkable self and I can just HEAR Phil doing the Mario voice with ‘Let’s go!’.This book is literally filled with so many things that I can go on about this for hours and hours, but for now I’ll just add a few of my favourite bits (p.s. let me know if you like my commenting on the book and I might comment on more bits).

So one of my favourite things is the bit where Dan and Phil write as their 11 and 12 year old selves (respectively) and write to their future selves. It is the most adorable thing in the entire world + kid pics are such a bonus!! <3 They were very clever to put the high school reports right after their experience tales. It made it 10000000 times funnier.

Next thing is the tutorial on drawing cat whiskers. THANKS GUYS! Now I will forever know how to create cat whiskers in real life. Phil’s university experience made me so incredibly proud!

The one word story game is just the most hilarious thing ever to read and I really want them to do this on camera more because it is just THE BEST!

NOW FOR THE ACTUAL BEST THING: Daniel James Howell wrote PHAN FICTION AND I SWEAR it is PERFECT! His writing skills are genuinely out of this world. I’ve been studying English for the past four years now. This includes writing essays A LOT! and in all those years I’ve never seen more profound and gripping writing as Dan’s. Also the FEELS! Danpire and Vamphil <3

Book Appraisal: Enchanted

This book was a very particular mix of the classic bedtime stories our parents read to us when we fell asleep (well, not in my case as my parents never read me half a book). It combined many of the aspects of the classic fantasy/ happily-ever-after stories we all know; Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, the goose that lay golden eggs, the frog that turns into a prince after a slippery and disgusting peck on its crusty back (that image gives me shivers).

All in all, I enjoyed reading it very much; I felt as if I was reading a modern version book of all of my favorite fairytales. It was very confusing at first keeping up with so many characters at once (The woodcutters had seven kids and they all have weekday names, I don’t know if it was my lack of concentration but I had a really hard time identifying who was who)

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to live up some enjoyable fantasy, an interesting plotline and well-rounded characters.
