Last time I checked, wanting illegal immigrants deported, minorities to not getting preferential treatment, and trans people not to be “indulged” in their “mental illness” was not the same as wanting anyone in any of those groups dead.

There’s also the part where being friends with someone is a very good way to influence their views of groups you’re in, even if you’re not trying.

Of course, that works both ways, so I suspect folks like this are, on some level, just protecting their hugboxes.

This is a strawman. Whether they’re the majority or not, a major part of the job of jail is containing people who are dangers to the public.

Also, none of that stuff reliably stops or prevents violent criminals. By your own argument two points ago, there have always been bad guys.

This really sounds like you’re just mad pro-life people call you mean things. 

There are very few, if any pro-life people who don’t think abortion is murder and oppose it on that basis.

I wasn’t even defending pro-lifers, I was legitimately asking.

Also, I like how someone who deliberately calls pro-lifers “anti-choicers” (which is itself a slur by her definition) complains about people using insulting language to him. 

And also “buzzwords”. Like “anti-choicer”, which is the exact same thing he’s kvetching about, just from the other side.

And now she’s begging for validation for her willful ignorance.

It’s almost like he’s just saying whatever comes to mind to rationalize his stupid opinion that the other side should only make arguments he likes.

Commentary: I am not making this up.

I like how he went “if this is your only argument, you don’t have a real argument!” without actually saying why the position is wrong at any point other than his own opinion.

The closest thing to an actual criticism was handwaving it away as a “buzzword”.

Also, I’m not pro-life or pro-choice. I just think a lot of pro-choice people make bad arguments, and I was legitimately asking kings-catastrophe to explain his views.

I’ve argued with feminists about this before, and some hate to directly admit that only men are currently drafted. Because that would mean admitting men are bigger victims than women in any field, ever.

*Which is what we specifically complain about.

I have literally seen people argue that even platform censorship is still just “holding people accountable”, and censorship doesn’t count as censorship unless the government is doing it.

I like the implication that anyone accused of having Crimethink material must’ve carefully and deliberately written it in to have that effect, when a great deal of controversies are about people “seeing” implications that were not intended by the author. 

Often they just make crap up from thin air.

Like the people who said JK Rowling is anti-Semitic because the goblins kind of resemble Jewish stereotypes. When others went “no, goblins have been like that in mythology for centuries”, several people went “that’s because goblins are based on Jewish stereotypes”.

No evidence, of course. 

Just Guilt By Similarity.

People have explicitly said that even a lack of intent doesn’t matter if they think your fiction can have a Bad Effect or just resembles a Bad Thing. If anything, doing it by accident is worse, because you’re not Properly aware.

Or the people who claim the franchise is fascist and white supremacist, even though it’s about fighting bad guys modeled on the Nazis and “prejudice is bad” and is written by a progressive.

Heck, one Vtuber apparently got harassed into retirement just because she wanted to play Hogwarts Legacy and wasn’t aware of the controversy. I saw people claim that anyone playing the game was going against the wishes of Jews and trans people. 

At least one even claimed that it didn’t matter if the allegations were actually right. People should bend the knee anyway, just to be a “good ally”.

In another thread, one troll claimed BLM was “clearly” “always about police reform”. As if the racial part didn’t exist. They were also the sort of person who dramatically goes “screw BLM the organization, but the movement itself is still valid!”

Even though the movement was started and heavily influenced by the organization.

And disavowing the org now doesn’t actually do anyone any good. It’s not going to evict Patrice Collins from her mansion. It’s not going to magically fix the lives ended and neighbourhoods destroyed.

It’s also not admitting the movement was wrong to support the organization. It’s literally virtue-signalling.
