Oooooops... I misread your tags, I meant from Sherlock.

No worries! 

I briefly explained it here. I mean, he’s taken as gay by the fandom so he can be shipped with Moran or Sherlock (or even John), just as Sherlock is taken as gay to be shipped with John. I feel like even when Jim is shipped with Molly there’s still an underlying ‘we know he’s gay though’ and frankly I see asexual, not gay. Just because he played gay on the show doesn’t mean he is gay- the whole point is that everything was an act. Rich Brook, Jim Zucco, the way he acts around everyone (except Sherlock arguably) is an act, that’s his MO. And, hate to say it, but I think people much more readily accept Jim as gay because Andrew Scott is gay. And that seriously has nothing to do with it. If that held true, then Sherlock is definitely straight because Benedict Cumberbatch is, to the lament of Johnlock shippers everywhere. No, it only serves to help the cause if it’s non-straight. 

Basically people want Jim to be gay so they can ship him with who they want, and they see him as some sort of a beast in bed when really we have no empirical evidence he’s ever been romantically or sexually interested in anyone. Just because he’s ‘flirted’ with Sherlock (His first words to Sherlock were ‘hello sexy’) doesn’t mean he’s gay. If anyone’s noticed, he just does that to 1) play with people’s heads and 2) to get what/where he wants. He can be whatever he needs to be, and do whatever he needs to do, whether that involves letting himself be tortured by Mycroft’s men for weeks or watching Glee with Molly and her cat. 

So yeah, that’s some of my thoughts on why I think Jim is asexual. I could write actual meta on it if I was motivated enough but idk.
