but PEARLGEM hgcz!rsv... they're so everything. for the newcomers, HGCZ is a superhero HC9 au surrounding hotguy. within the universe, pearl and gem are supervillains- this AU (yes its an AU of an AU) switches them to the superheroes Hotgal and Cutegal! they're Everything To Me. in this scene pearl's gearing up to go to a ball under her civilian alias while gem watches over her:

Another layer to the Philza Tubbo flight: Philza had a glider as well. I can't recall whether it was originally his, or if Tubbo gave it to him - there was a moment of tossing it back and forth in deciding who would have what backup - but I think thats part of why Tubbo was so confident that Phil could make it. He himself had just a water bucket to catch him if he fell (which is its own Thing), but as long as they got Close, Phil could switch to a glider in midair even if the elytra broke. And Phil trusted Tubbo to reason out the setup for them without a word on it.

Tubbo didn't just have faith in Phil's flying abilties; he made sure they were prepared for the wings to fail and still get out anyways. And I think thats just as thematic as the elytra lasting long enough. Backup plan as on-the-spot thinking, and survival over pride.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Tubbo's glider as well, I remember Phil dropping his glider earlier (I don't remember why exactly but I think it was while he was prepping for the duel and people were throwing just All The Items at him and he ran out of inventory space) and telling Tubbo he didn't have one

Hi, you said you wanted to hear more about Impulse Has Money And It Makes Things Weird (but it felt off topic from the post so I'm coming in here)

Essentially, it's what it says on the tin. Impulse is the one with money, able to hold down a steady job (whether it's the same one or he's just able to smoothly transition between them, I dunno yet). Zed, Tango, and Skizz all have various reasons for, well, not having money. (Loans for passion project [Decked Out, Diamond Beacon], school loans, bad luck [Skizz cannot keep a car from breaking down somehow], getting jobs and having the company almost immediately crash and burn, etc.) Impulse is working constantly, digging his claws into his jobs because rent keeps going up and his inflow is what's holding everything together. Impulse doesn't begrudge any of them the situation, and keeps trying to help as much as he can with lending money and such, but it makes things Awkward because they all feel like they're using him for cash and can't really pay him back yet, and he feels like he's working too much to spend quality time with them like they deserve.

There's a conversation where STZ pick up more of the housework, the cleaning and dishes and laundry and such, because 'oh Impulse is so tired from working all the time, it's the least we can do since he keeps lending us money for emergencies and none of us can pay him back' And Impulse starts feeling guilty that he's not helping enough around the house because he's tired from work, and he doesn't want people thinking he's just paying STZ to do stuff for him; he's doing this all because he cares, but once money gets involved, everything is so complicated

Basically it's a winding way of projecting some of my real-life situation into one where things can have a happy ending (the passion projects make bank, Skizz breaks into stunt-acting or something, there's a flash forward scene where Impulse has a temporarily empty wallet on a vacation and the other three fight over giving him cash). And also be poly ZITS.

oh this is SO interesting and i really enjoyed reading this!! because YEAH, money really does complicate things and i really enjoy reading about these kinds of complicated relationship type things (with the happy ending, ofc) because you get to see how the characters deal with it and try to navigate the situation with each other.

like how ZTS tries to help in their own way and how impulse reacts to That in turn... ough, they care about each other so much!

something I've really really wanted to have/read fics about is ballroom dance! but like, ones that actually go into detail about the dancing itself. however I also realise this is a very specific niche and realistically I'm the only person who's going to be filling it for the fandoms/characters I'm into. so I guess I'll have to do it myself. and in fact have been doing it myself. all previous attempts at fics have failed (shoves the five or six abandoned wips under the carpet) but hey! @/hideduoweek has "dance" as a prompt this time around! so. well we'll see :D

I don't. Understand people thinking Bdubs is a cheaty kind of guy. His whole THING is choosing A Person and sticking to them - he's loyal to a FAULT. Just because his brand of loyalty involves sarcasm, banter, and a slightly twisted definition doesn't mean it's not REAL to him. Because part of his loyalty is running himself into a blade if he thinks it can help His Person.

BDUBS made Scar run for Mayor. BDUBS made Ren take up the King's Crown. BDUBS took it from "oh, our lives are tied together this time?" to "Impulse and I are in LOVE."

Now, yes, he gets the big Traitor brand on his back, because of 3rd Life. "Oh, Bdubs betrayed his closest ally for a clock!" OR!!!!! OR!!!!! Bdubs recognized an inseparable pair in Grian and Scar, knows that he's not good enough to help Impulse beat them in a head-on 2v2, and throws himself on a metaphorical sword to give Impulse sympathy in the eyes of the audience!!! Either he kills Impulse, and things play out exactly as they do - or Impulse beats him, and looks a hero for it! (And Impulse might actually be smart enough to find away around the bond of the desert, in a way Bdubs can't.)

Bdubs threw himself onto the poisoned blade of Reputation, in a way that the fandom seems poised to ensure he can never recover from. Anyone can betray anyone else, but it'll always cycle back to Bdubs somehow. He played the long game, and chose the Heel role, and he'll choose it every god damn time if it'll make the people he care look a little more the Face.

Coughs. I mean. Uh. Bdub.

Okay we, in my system, call him many things, but the main two? Bastard and Fool.

He is a bastard, he is a fuckin bastard when he feels like it. Again pointing to Last Life, but also pointing to 3rd Life when he put Etho to death for the crime of wearing a helmet when they were in green.

As for fool? It's because he can be foolish, or seem foolish. He's the jester that mocks the king and hopes he can get away with him, but sometimes he simply can't.

And him being a bastard and a fool is part of the ecosystem of the servers he's on, no matter what server. Attack of the B-Team? He was a bastard. (Yes I am mentioning that series, I feel ancient at the mention of is name. We didn't watch Bdubs then, but we're def not gonna watch it now).

And also thinking about this reminds me of LimLife and what feels like an almost untapped source of angst for Bdubs.

Because it is true, in the Life Series, that he is The Traitor. Further on that, it is true not many trust him, especially when it gets later in the season. Just thinking about TIES using him as an excuse, someone to pin the blame on and mock. Thinking about how genuinely hurt Bdubs was after he was killed by Impulse and Tango, immediately wanting to seek revenge.

Just gah, he can be such a self-centered prick in the Life Series, but he's one that actually cares about and has loyalty to His Guy and that's something I adore about his character.
