“y/n.”
you barely registered your name being said, your eyes transfixed on booth’s hands, holding his coffee cop, making it look small.
but then his hands were moving, “hey! earth to y/n!” and that snapped you to attention.
you wrinkled your brows at him, “what?”
“what was the last thing you remember me saying?” seeley asked with a hint of a smirk and leaning back to look at you fully.
caught. you had been caught. how embarrassing. your cheeks flushed pink and your eyes fell to the floor, “i’m sorry, spaced out.” you mumbled and winced, visibly, unable to hide your own reaction.
this made seeley smirk, “oh i caught you staring staring.” you realized that you were trapped against the wall and booth was coming towards you.
your breath hitched a little, “seeley.” you gasped as he leaned closer to you, his free hand going to the wall behind you. your back hit the wall.
“what were you thinking about, sweetheart?” seeley whispered into your ear making you shudder.
holy fuck.

Summary: Isn’t insane how much can change in an instant. You were happily working with the FBI and Jeffersonian solving crimes one moment, and then it all went downhill. Within 48 hours, your brother’s remains had been discovered, you had become the next target, and both you and Sweets had been in a car accident.
BEFORE:
Booth had just arrived at the Jeffersonian when he received a call from Sweets. He wasn’t expecting Sweets to tell him that he and Y/n were being tailed. He rushed to Angela’s office and got her to trace the call, before sprinting to his car to try to find them. He sped towards their general direction wishing that the software would work faster. He talked to Y/n trying to get any details that would help him know where to go, but the line went silent. It was a couple minutes later when Angela was able to send him the location.
He raced to the coordinates, but when he arrived he saw that he was too late. Sweet’s car was burning at the bottom of the drop off. He quickly made his way down to try to rescue the two of you. It wasn’t until he was at the bottom that he was able to see that the two of you were laying on the ground outside of the car. While he was relieved, it was short-lived as he saw the blood that was soaking through your shirt. He took off his jacket and firmly applied pressure careful not to move the shards of glass.
When the ambulance arrived they had to physically remove him from the scene. He was devastated. They informed him of what hospital they were taking you and Sweets to and left. Booth was left there still shaken up. He looked down at his hands and white shirt which were covered in blood...your blood. He couldn’t believe this was happening. It took him a moment to realize that his phone was ringing. He had almost forgotten about the Jeffersonian.
“Hello-” he answered.
“Booth, thank God, did you find them, is everyone okay?” Brennan asked.
“I was too late, they were drove off the road. They’re on their way to the hospital, but it doesn’t look good. They were unconscious when I got here. And now...they just...I don’t” he struggled.
“Listen Booth, they are going to be fine. They are fighters. Are you okay to drive or do you want me to send Hodgins to pick you up?” Angela spoke.
“I’ll be fine. I just have to wait for the crime scene analysts to show up. We are going to see if there is anything here to help us catch this son-of-a-bitch.” Booth answered regaining his composure.
“Okay, we’ll do our part here. I love you” Brennan replied.
“I love you too Bones. Be careful.” Booth answered before hanging up the phone.
The team at the Jeffersonian were trying to decide the best course of action. They all wanted to go to the hospital to be there for you and Sweets, but deep down they knew that the real way to help you would be to stay and find Pilaski. They decided to go two at a time to the hospital. First up would be Booth and Brennan.
;;;;;;;;;;;
When Brennan arrived to the hospital she asked about you and Sweet’s they were told that they could go see Sweets who was awake in room 203 with a mild concussion, but that you were still in critical condition and in surgery. The nurse had asked for your family’s contact information, and that is when it hit her that you didn’t have anyone. Not anymore. She informed the nurse that she could get your medical information from the Jeffersonian before pulling out her phone to call Angela and give the team the update.
Booth had to go home to change clothes before going to the hospital. When he saw himself in the mirror and saw how much blood had soaked into his shirt his stomach turned. It took time to get the dried blood off of his hands. He made his way to the hospital waiting for any news, when Brennan called to give him the update. Today had been a mess. He was glad to know that Sweets was okay. And he knew that you would be okay as well. You had to be.
When he walked into room 203 he saw that Sweets was trying to leave. “What do we have here?” he asked with a sense of relief.
“I can’t be here. Not while Pilaski is out there” Sweets answered fidgeting with his IV.
“I tried to tell him that he needs to stay here and let the doctors run tests, but he won’t listen to me” Brennan informed.
“Okay Sweets, I know it sucks, but Bones is right. We will find him. It’s your job to stay here and get better. That is what Y/n would want, isn’t it?” Booth persuaded.
“Booth. We are here because of me. I never should have taken her to my house. She was safe at the bureau. If it weren’t for me she wouldn’t be fighting for her life right now. She would be safe.” Sweets answered.
“Hey now, this isn’t your fault. None of this is your fault. She couldn’t have stayed in the bureau forever. She will be okay. She is a fighter. Now lay back and let the doctors do whatever it is that they need to in order to make sure that you are okay.” Booth persisted.
Sweets reluctantly agreed and Booth took a seat next to his bed. Brennan excused herself to go see if there was any update on your condition. She was informed that due to the extensity of your injuries you would be in surgery for hours. And for now, no news was good news. The nurse did take down her contact information and let her know if anything changed.
