(I swear neither in real life nor here, but in this post, I’m going to use the f-word a lot – so be careful! But I have a reason and you’ll see why.) I’ve watched “Rocketman” and it was just an amazing two hours. I don’t give a bloody hell if it’s factually correct – Elton John himself participated in making that movie so it’s approved. I should also say – I’m not a fan – I’ve only listened to Elton John in “Kingsman 2” so now it was such a shock for me! I’m just in love! I have a thing for people playing the piano ever since “Fearless Vampire Killers” and Hebert (you know – long fingers, caressing and hitting the keys and extracting magic sounds from the instrument) so yes – I was overwhelmed not only by the music but also by the aesthetics. By aesthetics, I, of course, mean not only playing the piano – I mean also the clips inside the movie, the amazing cutting and filming, dancing. I also was stunned by Taron Egerton’s acting and (!) singing! I would never think that in a biopic about a singer the main actor can sing himself – but he did! I’m so impressed! I actually spent the rest of the evening watching actual Elton John’s clips and still didn’t get disappointed Of course, of course, the plot: I suppose, if I hadn’t known that it’s a biographical drama about a person, who’s alive and lives his “happily ever after” right now, before watching, I’d probably just have died from nerves while watching it – it’s so tensed and so heart-breaking in some moments. But after all – it’s very inspiring and so enlightening! Mostly thanks to the part of him accepting himself after all.
And now comes the swearing part – don’t say I didn’t wart you!
The Ministry for Culture of Russia and the distributors suck! They suck as hard as you can only imagine and ten times harder. They can just go and fuck itself and especially the minister himself. Yes, Mr Medinsky can go and fuck himself, better right on the Red Square. You’re probably asking me – how did you go from “Rocketman” to the Ministry of Culture? I can easily explain it to you: these bastards… no these motherfuckers cut “scenes of homosexual sex and taking drugs” form the movie and they also cut the happy ending – about Elton finding his true love. I mean – for real – they got a movie and just cut it. What’s the most INTERESTING it still stayed marked “18+”. Can you even imagine it?! The thing is that in the law it’s written: in such movies, you can show information “which can make children want to consume drugs” and “propagandizing (Jesus help me!) untraditional sexual relationships” and these fucking cursed homophobes and hypocrites just cut it!! I can’t even express how angry am I! Well, even Elton John himself wrote about in his Twitter, so I’ll probably just end with his tweet and wishes of everything bad imaginable for people who do such things. “We reject in the strongest possible terms the decision to pander to local laws and censor “Rocketman” for the Russian market, a move we were unaware of until today. We believe in building bridges and open dialogue, and will continue to push for the breaking down of barriers until all people are heard equally across the world”.
rocketman + my dumbass posts
bonus:
Holy Moses, can we live in peace Lord help me now (holy, holy, holy Moses) Can we live in peace Oh, holy Moses, can we live I wonder can we, can we, can we live In peace
So this is a Medley of Elton John, that include songs from his 2nd album. How many soul greats that actually covered the songs from this album, in some extent it proves the superior quality of the songs from that album.
