Well the date with the cute Nurse was a dud. Sparks I might have felt with date one died with date two. Oh well.
He's not intellectually stimulating. He doesnt read or keep up with the news. He doesn't travel or even try new foods. We went out for sushi and he just seemed so lost. He was weirdly fascinated by my religious beliefs, as if I was some exotic creature. Yeah. Nope.
He's nice, but just not what I'm looking for. He lacks basic linguistic manners (like how are you? Drive safe. Etc). He's physically awkward and may even have an eating disorder (He only eats salads at restaurants because he doesn't trust the cooks. He made this comment at a Thai restaurant. In hindsight, this may be some lowkey racism).
At the end of the date he continued to seem so lost and odd. He asked where I thought this was going. If we were just going to be friends. Ummmm...this is our second date. And yes...let's just be "friends."
I honestly don't know how any of this works so I'm just going to go with the flow.
I'm starting to recognize that the free dating apps are problematic. You get what you pay for. So I think I'm going to invest in a paid dating app or friends introducing me to someone. The quality of men on these free sites is abysmal.
A good example is the guy I spoke to on Minder. He lied about his education by calling himself a "creative person." Turns out that code for college dropout and unemployed. Dude also has four children living him. He's prowling the free Muslim dating sites looking for a free meal. Of course, I found this out during our first conversation. When I told him (politely) it probably wouldn't work out. We're just too different. He had the audacity to get angry with me and demand that I spend more time with him. Ummmm...no.
My friend, Y, refers to these kinds of men as "wet cats." They need shelter, food, clothing. They are totally unprepared to live on their own and require a caretaker. Yeah...nope. I'm not going to be someone's mom. I need a real partner. Also shame on this dude for expecting a woman to care for him and his four kids.
There's also a cute prof at my university. He's a FB friend and likes all my posts. My friend knows him and I ask her to set me up. Let's see where that goes.
