Boruto arrived in front of a small chalet lost a few miles from Konoha. It was far enough from the village that no one, not even Kawaki, noticed his presence. It was a chalet that he and Sarada had found by chance when they were returning from a mission when he was still part of Team 7. When everything was normal, when he was still Boruto Uzumaki. It was a place only knew by them. Even Mitsuki and Konohamaru were unaware of its existence. It was the ideal place to see Sarada without anyone knowing. It was a chalet that had been abandoned for years. One of the windows had broken because of the weather, the door stuck easily and the roof was not in good condition.
Boruto put his hand on the door handle and opened it with a creak. Luckily that there was no one around, he thought. He went inside and saw Sarada lying on the worn couch that was near the fireplace. She was wrapped in a blanket that she had brought a few days ago. He approached her and crouched down. She was asleep. She looked so peaceful. He had noticed that it was something that rarely happened to her.
She was one of the few people who remembered Boruto Uzumaki. Even if she never spoke to him about it, he knew that things were difficult for her. The villagers only saw her as the daughter of a traitor and that she was defending another traitor who had killed the Hokage.
During the time he had spent with Sasuke, he had told him about his past, even if Boruto knew that there were certain things that he had kept to himself. He understood him better. But unfortunately, Sarada was paying the price for it. Boruto blamed himself. Because of him, she had to face all of this alone.
He raised his hand to brush away a strand of her hair that was falling on her face when Sarada moved slightly and opened her eyes slowly. He quickly took his hand away.
“Boruto ? Have you been here for a long time ?”
She sat up, rubbing her eyes.
“I just got here. We can meet another day if you want.”
Sarada woke up instantly.
“No !” She replied hastily. “I’m awake.”
Boruto restrained himself from smiling. He did not want to leave either. His fleeting encounters with Sarada were important to him. Much more than she could imagine. With her, he felt like he was the Boruto from before. He stood up and sat down next to Sarada. She offered him half of her blanket. He was not cold, but he accepted. They talked for a few minutes when he saw that Sarada had her eyes half-closed and she was fighting not to fall asleep.
“Go back to sleep,” he said. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Despite all this time apart, he knew her by heart. With a glance, he could read her. She did not want to be away from him and he did not want to either. Sarada closed her eyes and fell asleep right back. He put his arm around her shoulders and hugged her. She instinctively snuggled into his arms.
“I wish I could tell you how I feel,” he whispered.
He loved her. He always had. He had realized it when he had promised to protect her when she would become Hokage. But he could not confess his feelings to her. Not yet. Not while Omnipotence was still there.
He closed his eyes, enjoying this moment when Sarada was in his arms. He stayed with her until she woke up, as he had promised her.
The end
Borusara Week 2024
Sarada’s Day | Hokage | Rebel
It's the last day! And finally time for a one shot I'm decently proud of x) Post Time-skip in cannon, fluffy, and a little hint of angst.
It had been three weeks since he left on that stupid “atonement mission,” and three weeks since Sarada felt fully focused at work. It was the last day of March, her birthday, and she couldn’t even take time off to celebrate.
Documents towered to her shoulder in a stack least 200 pages high, waiting for a signature. A higher stack of at least 300 pages high waited for a stamp. Three important meetings needed to be arranged. There were 30 new documents to review. It all had to be done before the end of the day. She could get it all done without a problem if she could organize her schedule and just. Focus.
In hidden grass village, there is a food shortage and a report of bandits stealing frequently. Konoha's assistance is requested.
Stamp. Sign. To a pile on her left on the floor.
D rank mission completed by team 32. Lost ca...
Capybara? Rubbing her eyes still didn't produce clear results. And that was when she realized... It was because her eyes were wet with tears. Her head throbbed and pounded, her stomach cramped and ached... She had to do her work. She had to. But as tears dripped down her cheeks and onto her desk, all she could think was... She just wanted to see him.
Whenever he noticed a large stack of papers on her desk, he'd stand behind her chair and rub her shoulders. Whenever she was too overwhelmed to handle things and got snappy and stressed, he'd walk behind her desk until she caved. She'd curl into the small space at his feet, hide from all her unwanted visitors, lean her head in his lap while he played with her hair. Let him stamp things that needed to be stamped. Was that a fair thing to do as Hokage? No. But she trusted him to do it because he was Boruto. And because a mere five to ten minutes was all she needed to feel human again.
Where was he? When was he coming back?
Thinking about it every day made her heart do that stupid annoying thing where it raced too fast for far too long, spreading numbness all the way down to her fingertips. Her vision blurred. The pen fell from her hands as she held her head to get a grip.
She didn't want to think of Boruto as the type of person to avoid her out of embarrassment, but the possibility did cross her mind and linger there for longer than she would've liked for it to. She shouldn’t have hugged him goodbye. He shouldn’t have kissed her forehead.
She was Hokage, and that meant she didn’t have time for him in the way that they both wished they did. That’s why she didn’t advance their relationship any further. That’s why she always held back.
She took a deep breath in and took her eyes off of the door, gritting her stomach to bear with the pain, trying to fix her migraine with medical ninjutsu. Come on Sarada. Focus. Focus... Focus!
After grabbing a clear file off of the top of the stack, her computer screen went black. And just before she could move the mouse, she caught a glimpse of her reflection. Her hair was disheveled, her eyes sunken in, glasses slightly crooked on her face. Perhaps that was what Shikadai hesitated to say. She looked like a hot mess, minus the hot.
The oversized hokage hat could fix that. Her hair, her eyes, all of it. She could just hide. And then, on top of concealing her appearance, she wouldn't have to worry about what reaction her idiotic hormone ridden brain would have to seeing him if he did happen to show up.
Just as she set her hat on her head, she noticed.
There was a clear glass vase of red roses on her desk that hadn't been there seconds before, and there were only two people that could flicker in and out of her office without her noticing. Neither of them were there, not on the ceiling, not under her desk, not behind any of the stacks of paper or even just outside the window. The fresh floral scent chose that particular moment to enter her nose... And the throbbing in her head grew worse with the pounding of her heart.
Calm down. It's your birthday. Maybe he just came back to give you flowers for your birthday...
And then. There was a box of chocolates sitting on top of the clear file she'd placed there moments ago. How was he doing this completely soundlessly?! This was not fair.
The crocodile tears stinging her eyes were also not fair.
Sarada picked up the box and inspected it hoping to find some sort of note, only to notice... There was a silver ring on the fourth finger of her left hand?! She abruptly dropped the box and fanned out her fingers, staring, touching it to make sure it was real. It was very real. And cold, and round, and smooth, and imbedded with tiny diamonds that ran in a spiral around the metal.
"Yo."
Sarada's entire body was so tense that she banged her knees on her desk out of startlement. "Idiot! What is... What did... How is..."
He really owed her an explanation for this, but she wasn't sure whether to yell at him, pull him down by the loose collar of his white t-shirt and force him into a kiss whether he wanted one or not, feelings be darned, or sob harder because this was all some cruel prank.
She hid her face. She had to. She was really crying now, curse her stupid emotions. Fat tears dripped over her cheeks, the metal of the ring heating as she tensed her hands.
"Sorry it took me so long," he said sheepishly. "Himawari wouldn't let me go until I could do it all without making any noise..."
Sarada tried to stop her quivering by telling herself to relax, but the built-up stress in her body decided that now would be a good time to escape, and her muscle system blatantly refused to shut down.
"...You okay?"
"Of course I'm not okay!" Her swollen throat had a lump the size of the Land of Fire. Her voice sounded like a sad cross between an underwater donkey and an angry sheep. The trembling was doing nothing for her headache or her cramps, and every second she spent in this confusing situation was another second lost in completing her work. "...Idiot! Stupid! Dummy! What... What even is this?"

The new team 7
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters, the characters featured in this fic all belong to Kishimoto.
Team 7 is known as the strongest team of their generation, which is fitting since they share the same team number as the previous sanin.
They were all children of sannin, albeit of different generations.
Mitsuki is the son of Orochimaru, formerly an S class missing nin, but now he's an ally of the leaf, he's the most mysterious of the group, everything from his parentage to his abilities is mysterious, but he was someone the team could rely on, cause other than being teammates with Boruto and Sarada, he is also Boruto's friend and Sarada's 'best guy friend 'as she says.
After three years of being teammates with the uzumaki and Uchiha heirs, he had excellent teamwork with both of them, together or apart, but, he thought as Konohamaru sensei declared their surrender against Boruto and Sarada's team, he knew that he could never work with them the way they work with each other .
''Great job guys, you're teamwork in strong enough to beat me and Mitsuki together, I'm even thinking of applying you guys to the jonin exams.''
'' Well it's about time we became jonin huh Sarada? But don't even dream of winning the jonin exams tournament cause that's mine database!''
'' We'll see idiot, but don't forget who won our last three spars.''
''You were just lucky that's all.''
''Yeah, if you think luck is a synonym to skill.''
''You'll be dazzled by my new secret weapon that my dad helped with, you won't even realize what happened.''
''Yeah right and besides you're not the only one who was training with their parents lately.''
''Were you training with Auntie Sakura or Uncle?''
Sarada smirked.
''With both.''
Boruto gulped because he could only imagine a jutsu that requires the careful attention from two legendary sannin.
''We'll see, loser treats the winner to burgers deal?'' Boruto said as his hand extended towards Sarada.
''Deal.'' Sarada said as her hand caught Boruto's and they shook hands.
Since the moment Mitsuki joined the team , he knew that there will be moments where his teammates will forget about him, that didn't bother him, since he knew that no matter what he did he would never have a bond with them like the one they shared.
Their bond is something built by years of trust and understanding, and it's noticeable that they knew each other before the academy, since even then their teamwork was flawless, Boruto explained it's because they were partners in crime before they stopped being friends when they were kids.
''But I thought that the jonin exams spars required teams of two.'' Mitsuki intervened.
''That's not always the case, sometimes they test each chunin by themselves,'' Konohamaru said.
''Then if it's like Mitsuki said, if one of us loses, we both lose, Sarada?''
It's an unspoken agreement between the team , that if anything required a team of two, then Sarada and Boruto would be together.
'' Of course, and our first mission as a team of two today is to find Mitsuki a teammate.''
''Yeah, I think Chou-chou would love to be on a team with you.'' The blonde boy said as he wiggled his eyebrows.
''Yeah, yeah Chou-Chou would be thrilled to be on a team with you.'' Sarada said as she grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the team 5 training grounds.
Mitsuki started regretting telling his friends about his crush on the Akimichi heir.
It didn't help that Sarada is best friends with Chou-chou.
And from an analytical point of view, Chou chou's fighting style is the perfect companion to his own , and if he wanted to beat Boruto and Sarada he wanted to have the best teammate possible.
He doubted even Shikadai could beat them together, since they can formulate plans in seconds and make the other understand in even less time, besides the were both raised by Kakashi's motto, which is to never leave a friend behind, they were raised by that motto, while Mitsuki had to learn it from them.
But through the years, he watched their bond change, and that change affected their teamwork, they used to fight like The hokage and Sarada's dad, counting on the other and protecting each other, but now they fight more like his master, Sakura Uchiha, and her husband, counting on each other and trusting each other's abilities, but they can't help but look towards the other every time they hear something weird, protect the other, but also can't help but avenge the other too, his father told him what Sasuke did to the sound nin that hurt Sakura in their chunin exams, and he was reminded of that story when he saw Sarada almost kill an S rank missing nin with a tsukuyomi for fatally injuring Boruto.
The members of team 7 are unbreakable, Mitsuki knew that knew that Sarada and Boruto would never give him up, but he also knew that before team 7 was born, Sarada and Boruto were teammates, after that rivals, and then friends, but it seems their bond is growing into something else.
Something more beautiful, more passionate, something Mitsuki could only call love.
