BOTANICA (보타니카) is a six membered boy group under STARMAKER ENTERTAINMENT debuting on july 25, 2020 with the single blooming. they’re the first boy group to debut under SMK, and are easily recognizable for their more innocent “flower boy” concept.

has a soundcloud where he goes by “loverman” and mainly just uploads demos of songs, most of which are actually pretty sad. the account dates back a few years before debut but it’s still active occasionally.

he was in university for two years before dropping out for reasons he’s never talked about. soon after us when he joined smk.

while in university he studied abroad in japan for a few months, and picked up basic japanese while he was over there. he even chose a japanese name for himself, koushi!

he has a younger sister named hanbi, who he spent most of his late childhood taking care of while his parents worked late nights.

despite being the leader, he’s the shortest member by at least a few centimetres, and is often teased by other other members for it. they like to carry him around and make jokes about how they could easily throw him across the room. but they’re joking! probably.

peach chose the korean name taehyun (태현) for him as a trainee because it’s somewhat similar to his birth name.

when tian came to smk, he knew next to no korean, so peach started to pick up mandarin so he didn’t feel like he had no one to talk to.

he constantly talks about wanting tattoos but has absolutely no pain tolerance, so instead he results to doodling all over his arms. at any event where they aren’t performing he will no doubt have drawings all over his arms.

he is singlehandedly the reason why there is never any food in the botanica dorm fridge.

peach was the one to choose his stage name! it means “lotus” in japanese.

daniel has been dying his hair and getting perms since he was probably 13. he says he has the strongest scalp in the group gif the other members have a bet going on how fast he’s gonna start balding.

his mom owned a hair salon when he lived in boston, so sometimes he cuts the other members hair for them or styles it for events.

he has a slight speech impediment! he’s gone to speech therapy so it’s gotten less noticeable but if you listen closely you can still notice it sometimes.

elliot is probably one of those most active on social media in the group. he’s constantly updating fans on what he did that day, what music he’s listening to, what shows he’s watching, etc.

he says one of the things he misses most about california is going to disneyland. ren often argues with him about how disney world is far better.

heechan comes from a very well off family, his parents have a lot of power financially. of course this results in rumours about how he became an idol. he likes to poke fun at these rumours, joking about how his parents could’ve bought him a spot into x1.

as a trainee, he was part of a small dance group of other make trainees that often went out to do busking performances. milo and mj of solar were also a part of this group.

it doesn’t matter if you didn’t know jaeyi was the tallest member of botanica. he will let you know and will not let you forget.

he comes from a huge family of six. two brothers, taewon and seojun, and three sisters, haejoo, hyojung, and dahae. he enjoys bragging about how he’s still the tallest out of all of them.

he can play piano, guitar, and ukulele. fans beg him to post more song covers playing an instrument, but he basically ghosted the botanica youtube channel after uploading one ukulele cover.

he’s got a very expressive face! he cannot conceal his emotions very well he’s just an expressive little lad.

he’s absolutely terrified of heights, yet he’s the one who insists on going up to rescue baekhan from the roof when he gets sad. he has almost thrown up on multiple occasions.
