Alternate Bow Draw [still learning but at least it works]
All right #RangersApprentice oak leaf bearers, got a little somethin' for ya. Ok so I've been experimenting with this bow draw, the Slavic draw where you've got the arrow on the right side of the bow; your finger AND THUMB hold the arrow in place. Because of the opposite side you need to swivel your aim a little to the left, and watch the arrow between the string and the limb. 🏹 As an anchor point, my suggestion is pulling it all the way back so the thumb goes under your jaw so it won't just jerk upward. After testing it (at least at relatively close distance) it works. Got a couple bullseyes.
You're basically using your three other fingers underneath, which includes the pinky (aka Apache draw), and have both the forefinger and thumb holding the arrow by the nock. Still, like with any bow draw, you don’t wanna use your whole fingers; just the first knuckle as if you were using the “norm” split grip.
Well I hope this has helped some of the aspiring speed archers here (thumb ring’s a too-huge jump from the three finger grip, at least with me). Give it a try, see how interested and dedicated you can be about it.
