what is with the phenomenon of me shipping an alternative/side pair in a show/movie more than the actual main pair we’re supposed to care about / focus on!?!?

ex 1: Andi Mack ...this show could've went on longer but it was given the 3 season curse by disney

i absolutely do NOT ship this and still can't STAND TJ. after he disrespected buffy, i never saw it for him again. i ship cyrus with another boy, which i'll say below - alternative/side pairs i ship more:

underrated af. this could've been great. but of course they wanna throw away a black character (they reached their one black character quota w buffy already) /hj ex 2: netflix’s first kill netflix can't HELP but cancel their wlw shows huh... it's giving lesbophobic. THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE TO EXPLORE

i definitely do ship this. jules and cal are adorable. jules head over heels from the first LOOK and cal's walls crumbling slowly but surely. 1x08 was HEARTBREAKING - side: margot x sebastian

idk there's just something about these two... the casual intimacy, the fact that magot "fucked" up her family's legacy for him, the tenderness between them in 1x03. but embarrassingly, i think the thing that put them above calliette for me was THAT scene in 1x05 LMAO. seb just wanted to protect his girls so davina had to GO. when margot walked in and questioned him and he just told the honest truth. girl he was so upset AND THE GAG WAS that margot seemed more upset by HIM being distraught than by HER FUCKING MOTHER BEING EATEN. like, she was upset FOR HIM rather than AT HIM. and then she KISSED HIM?!?!?!!? GIRL YOU WANTED A TASTE THAT BAD?!?!?! HELPPPPP. I could keep going but we got a lot more to go- NEXT

ex 3: the princess diaries (2001)

a classic w anne hathaway and julie andrews and sandra oh! executive produced by whitney houston (RIP) iirc????

definitely when I was a child i shipped these two. not so much now, they're fine. it's inbetween an "indifferent" and "yes i do"

- side pair: clarisse x joseph

y'all these two!!!! so much tension in the first movie and you could tell there was history. they just... draw me in

ex 3.5: the princess diaries 2: royal engagement

i'm definitely in the minority of ppl who don't ship this. i just don't like the way this particular enemies to lovers story was executed. but i in no way dislike this ship as much as tyr*s. it's more like a slight annoyance. also i'm in the minority who ships mia w someone else... teehee

AHHHHH FINALLY AFTER DECADES THEY GET MARRIED. this is what you call PAYOFF to the first movie's BUILDUP. you can tell there is deep mutual love, respect, and admiration there, more than the actual canon pair

ex 4: the nanny

this is prob my fave show of all time YOPPPP. it's literally so funny

yes of course i ship these two. you probably couldn't get thru the show if you didn't lol. much more when I was elementary school age but it's still there. i literally memorized that they finally got together in season 5

- side: niles x cc

this is one of my three OTPs fr. they are so special to me. niles is HILARIOUS and cc is gorgeous. THIS is the kind of enemies to lovers i like to SEE. their banter is top tier especially in the later seasons when they're more friends than enemies. i've watched their scenes together many times just to analyze their body language and microexpressions for CRUMBS of cute moments. when they embraced after cc finally accepted his marriage proposal >>>> i fear we must move on again or i will keep going...

ex 5: high school musical: the musical: the series

wow it's been years since i've watched this show but the phenomenon still applies here

of course i ship benslie. there is no reason not to. they are so healthy. look at that picture. like w fran and maxwell, i used to ship them more, but then the beta couple once again took over my heart

a HELLA underrated ship. their dynamic just draws me in,,, v radical that they wanted to be together and didn't care about marriage. sucks that they had to leave the show early

ex 7: one day at a time (2017-2020)

i'm like in between an "indifferent" and a "I definitely do ship this". I’m happy my little activist queen Elena has a romantic partner and I have nothing against Syd. Their relationship is cute or whateva

just like with jyrus WE WERE ROBBED. THEY GO TOGETHER REAL BAD, and i'm always a sucker for a friends to lovers journey. riddle me this, gloria: if these two were never supposed to happen, WHY WAS THERE AN ABUNDANCE OF ROMANTICALLY CODED MOMENTS BETWEEN THEM HUH?!?!?!?! why did this have to be the one time where heteronormativity didn't come through for me LMAO

ex 8: high school musical 2

definitely when I was younger yes i shipped them, but now? not really. honestly I mostly care about the music and having a good time singing along when i watch this movie. they're fine, i don't dislike them

- side: chyan

kenny ortega, the man that you are for the i don't dance sequence... i could never thank you enough. my fave song from this movie. dancing as an allegory for being queer... your mind. it's too big. sexual tension through the ROOF and of course... THEY SWITCHED CLOTHES. i personally headcanon chad as bi bc i like to think he actually did have feelings for taylor in senior year, but he and ryan become VERY GOOD FRIENDS after college... idk

Given the recent promos, how do you think Andi Mack will end? Do you think Andi or someone else will move out of Shadyside?

I personally think that Andi Mack will end with a slightly open-ended thing. As in, something somewhat questionable will happen at the last moment and the screen will cut to black. The show has been notoriously known for these types of things so I could only assume. There’s no way they could answer all the unanswered questions before the finale premieres so of course many things will still remain open to interpretation.

For Bex and Bowie’s relationship, I think they’ll get married but only because they want to and not because of CeCe. (Like they’ll talk to each other more about it and make the decision themselves)

For Andi, I think that she’s going to either go to a art school or just get offered something that has to do with her crafting skills. I don’t think she’s going to move. But I think Jonah’s gonna move, but not out of Shadyside bc the summaries wouldn’t just spoil something as huge as that early on. The more emotional factor of Jonah’s move will most likely be about his financial family issues and how they’re solved. We’ll see his family and the GHC will get to meet them. Heck, Jonah might even have a sibling we never knew about. Who knows.

For Tyrus, they’ll obviously make up (Kira ain’t staying folks,, plus she’s 100% going to have a half-assed redemption) and share a groundbreaking moment on the bench in the finale securing their relationship, and Muffy will also do the same, (I think they’ll do it someplace that means something to them like the track or the basketball court or somethin) and they’ll share a kiss. Most of these I stated here I think are most definitely gonna happen or most likely gonna happen.

But one thing I’m unsure of is whether or not Jandi will get back together. I have a few predictions.

-One of them being that since Jamber will break up, Jonah will console Andi and then they’ll have a rushed ending in which they get together (Disney Channel Herero bullshit style)

-the second prediction I have is that Jandi will share a few scenes here and there towards the end of the show and the finale, and then they’ll have an implied but not specifically stated ending in which they “get together”

-my last prediction would be that Terri pulls through and make them continue their friendship and bond with each other, showing that unhealthy relationships of the past don’t have an affect on future healthy friendships (I truly wish it was this one,,,)

All of the couples got a fitting ending and I am so happy. Tyrus finally confessed their feelings for each other. Bowex got married. Nandi finally acknowledge that it’s not the right time for them. And Buffy and Marty are finally on the right page and formed Muffy.
