It has come to my attention that the online animation program/social media website amalgamation Flipanim is about to become a husk of its former self. Massive comment restrictions, 5 hour FUCKING cooldown period in-between posts. I have been weaning myself off the website for over a year so I'm not as upset as I could be. I think the decisions were ultimately justified as they massively lessen the moderation workload of the person who made the site as a HOBBY. However, as I will be directing all traffic to my flipanim account over to here, I thought I would take a massive leap of faith and migrate my biggest impact on that website as well.
Here it is; 'Canisbox', a Boxtrolls Alternate Universe where everything is the same except Herbert Trubshaw dies and all the human characters are anthropomorphic dogs. The bizarre result of my in-the-closet teenage angst. Part one of 3
Originally I was going to do this on May 28th, my 'Boxtrolls obsession anniversary' day but oh what the hell. Each one of these drawings has a story, a piece of me inside of it and I'm too sentimental to let them be swept away.
"Newer" designs for the 3 henchmen above, Older design references below. The other characters were never featured as much as the red hats, to nobody's surprise. Pickles is still my favorite design.
I still have no idea where the idea to give Snatcher a scar came from.
Herbert is my other favorite design. It's a shame I never drew it digitally ever again.
The Butler's name is actually Cheshire, according to preliminary animatics.
I actually googled "dogs that ate bees" for additional clarity while I was drawing the 'cheese fits' reference ahaha
Before anyone asks, I sadly never made a Madame Frou Frou OR Lady Portley-Rind reference
Some original characters. Louis (left) is a tax collector, Pete (right) is a bartender. The center image was the last canisbox-related thing I ever uploaded to Flipanim.com
I think these two show up on Google.
My closeted queerness reared its ugly head at times.
And this animation actually got featured on the website! (And so did the first one in this post)
