YouTube已經淪為中共打擊自由言論的幫凶了嗎？

今天博訊「獨家」頻道申請YouTube恢復廣告的努力再次失敗，自2018年9月以來，「獨家」頻道一直被取消廣告收入。之前,「獨家」也陸續發生被YouTube取消廣告收入的事件。「獨家」頻道開立於2017年1月，至今已發佈1700多個視頻，觀眾點擊量3393萬人次（博訊認為點擊量被YouTube控制）。獨家頻道是一個宣揚自由民主和普世價值，批判中共極權的時政分析頻道。

  So, I’ve been fortunate enough to test a couple of these pen wraps before. Both are a plain black and a bit stiff. I jumped on this one because it’s so pretty! But as it happens, it’s really soft so for me, that makes it a lot more manageable (for my gimpy, arthritic hands!).

Aside from its looks, it is practical which is of course, the more important factor. It holds 48 pencils or in my case, pens! I’ve been into coloring in some of the adult coloring books lately with their intricate lines, so I like the gel pens for this. I’ve also been really into using the glitter and metallic pens, though. GLITTER ALL THE THINGS!

Some sets come with a few of each type, like a few glitter, a few metallic, a few neon, and so on. This wrap is allowing me to keep all the various glitter and metallic pens in one place for when I just want shiny, sparkly colored pages :) The string that wraps around it is plenty long enough to keep it rolled tight, I’m very pleased. It helps me to stay neat and organized.

博讯 (Boxun.com / Bóxùn) is a website that accepts reader-­submitted news stories and tips. The website was started in 2000 by Watson Meng, a Chinese citizen who graduated from Duke University, and it is considered one of the earliest blogs in China.

Why it is blocked: Boxun publishes daily articles that mostly deal with Chinese politics. Over the past decade, the site has not shied away from controversial topics and has been blacklisted by the Great Firewall, making it unreachable for most Chinese citizens. Its writers have even been arrested, including most recently Jiao Guobiao, who was charged with “suspicion of inciting subversion of state power” in an article about the Diaoyu Islands dispute with Japan (he has since been released). Its servers have also been the target of denial ­of ­service attacks. 

Since the start of the Bo Xilai scandal, Boxun has covered the scandal so extensively and broken so many stories that there are rumors that anti-­Bo insiders must be leaking information to Boxun in order to undermine Bo. Thus, the site serves as a sort of WikiLeaks. Though Boxun’s editors attempt to verify the reader­-submitted rumors and tips, some of what is published remains pure speculation. In January 2013, Boxun faced a lawsuit from the actress Zhang Ziyi for publishing a story that she was a paid mistress of Bo Xilai, but the trial was vacated by the judge.

The site proudly declares that it is an independent news source and is not anti-­China, merely a watchdog. However, critics of the site point out that from 2005 to 2009 it allegedly received funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a U.S. organization that itself is funded by the State Department. Critics of the NED allege that NED grantees are merely fronts for CIA operations designed to create turmoil in other nations.

US-based website covering #China's Bo Xilai #scandal hacked

A US-based website that has reported extensively on the Bo Xilai scandal in Chongqing says it has been crippled by a concerted hacker attack.

The site was rendered inaccessible for much of Thursday, depriving readers of coverage of the latest developments in the downfall of Chinese Communist Party official Bo Xilai, said Watson Meng, 47, who runs the Chinese-language site from Durham, North Carolina.

Watson Meng, the manager of the Boxun.com website, said it was out of action for several hours after a denial of service attack, in which several hackers overload a website with enquiries.The site was set up in 2000 to report on the pro-democracy movement and has been attacked before.

The scandal has deeply embarrassed party leaders. Six years ago, when Shanghai powerful party chief Chen Liangyu was sacked in a corruption purge, Chinese social media was in its infancy and months went by with no word on the case against him.

Boxun has covered the Bo story, a major scandal in China, since February. Bo, who was ousted last month, faces charges of corruption and abuse of power while his wife, Gu Kailai, is accused of killing British businessman Neil Heywood.
