When I first watched The Clone Wars, the entire Fives conspiracy arc kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I knew what would happen... I KNEW the conspiracy would somehow be covered up, because Palpatine inevitably would win and Order 66 would happen... But somehow, somehow as I was watching I found myself hoping that Fives would succeed.
Sometimes hope is the worst 😭
Because we know what happened.
Now, Fives' efforts were NOT completely in vain. Thank the Force, Rex took note, which eventually led to his own chip being removed, which led to the Bad Batch's chips being removed, which led to Omega staying safe long enough to (mostly unwittingly) postpone Palpatine's major immortality plans for decades... And SO many more ripple effects having a subtle, maybe even unnoticed, but still absolutely crucial impact on events moving forward.
And yet... It just guts me that Fives is still dead, and Order 66 still happens.
