one thing about Jeremy’s character that is sooo important to me is the fact that he does resent Michael in some way, even if he doesn’t realize it himself.

he knows that Michael has more confidence and is able to stand out more, even though they technically should be at the same level. the “I’M player one” line actually makes me crazy, cause the freaking controller number should be such a minor thing, but Jeremy is projecting it onto their entire lives.

in the context of the show, they’re supposedly equals; they’re both loser geeks who only have each other and spend time getting high in a basement. but, Jeremy paints Michael to be so much more than himself anyway, thinking that Michael’s confidence makes him significantly better than Jeremy.

But, I also think that Jeremy is jealous of Michael’s home life (loving parents who are supportive and still together) and his sense of self (being openly queer and having a complete understanding of himself) (cause we all know that Jeremy is some sort of queer that he hasn’t realized yet)
