one of my LEAST favorite tendencies possibly ever is how, in trying to talk up a gay relationship and describe how a man being with a man is So Different and Special and Unique, yaoi lovers will straight up forget that women are also people. who can and do also do that stuff. with men. and they think they’re being slick because you can say whatever about heterosexuality but like Women Are Also People so it’s actually misogyny. some women are big and tall and ripped and fat and are capable of being thrown around and having gross sweaty sex and smelling armpits and crotch and being big spoon and dominating and topping their male partners and being the one who drives and like whatever other thing you have decided, apropos of nothing, that your favorite men Could Not Have Experienced in their previous relationships with women ……..

isnt it interesting how lesbians who are into media with male-dominated casts and are deeply invested in platonic or romantic/sexual relationships between male characters are really not any kind of rarity or outlier. but anyone other than lesbians or bi women being really into media with female-dominated casts and being deeply invested in platonic or romantic/sexual relationships between female characters is a rarity or an outlier. it is almost like there are some sort of structural forces that make mens' stories and feelings a matter of public interest and womens' stories and feelings an afterthought. probably not though i guess it's just an inexplicable result of completely legitimate personal taste that is above critique. oh well.
