1 July 1690 (using the old calendar): William of Orange's army of Scots, English, Danes, Dutch, Germans, French Huguenots, et al defeat James VII/II's Franco-Irish Jacobite army at the battle of the Boyne. The decisive end to the Williamite war would be at Aughrim on 12 July 1691.
Skiing for the weekend
Dutch Blue Guards patrol Hillsborough Fort in Co. Down in June 1690, in which King William of Orange had taken up residence for two days on his journey to the Boyne.
From here the king issued a Royal Warrant authorising the payment of £1,200 yearly to the Presbyterian ministers of Ulster.
