Oh weird side projects, keeping life interesting since the dawn of man
Couldn't tell you why I'm on this godzilla kick, but I'm certainly on one
Some sketch renders of hatchet designs that would fit in with my Evolo Recreational brand. If you’re gonna be bold, do it with color!
Spent this weekend making a label for a beer my friends brewed up. The Closet Brew brand stems from the beer having been brewed in one of their closets, and the Hourglass name comes from the dark character of the beer, which makes it take a while to drink. My design intent was to emphasize the hand-made, low-yield nature of the product by giving the label a rustic and faded look, along with putting all the graphics at mismatched angles while painstakingly maintaining an alignment grid. (And for the record, haven't had any myself)
Some sketches from this week, sone quicker than others. Mechs and vehicles have been a source of fun during long meetings, though of course the new Zelda remains on the brain
I wanna build an LED floor lamp this summer!! Stay tuned!!!
about me
Alright so before I get too deep into this thing I should probably give some background. I’m currently a sophomore in my industrial design studies in Boston MA, and even though it’s probably literally killing me, I deeply love this line of work and what it stands for. This Tumblr was made in the hopes of finding inspiration and hopefully inspiring others, a place for me to post any and all of my work as it progresses and gawk at some other design blogs from time to time. I hope anybody who stumbles on my stuff on here likes at least something they see, and that the blog can act almost as a timeline of my personal growth as a designer. As far as me myself, I like to hang out with a book a sketchpad or my dog when I’m not grinding away in the studio. I’ve wanted to be an industrial designer for several years now, and it’s nuts to see my dream coming true right in front of me. In such a short time I’ve already made many pieces in very proud of. I draw a whole lot of influence from process art, abstract art, modern and postmodern graphic design and sculpture, and postmodern illustration to name a few, and I’ve been getting super into old movies lately (just finished Butch Cassidy, halfway through Brazil). One last thing: even though in the grand scheme of things I’m really just starting out, if any prospective design students or freshmen have any questions about my work or the field in general, feel free to post them to the blog, I’d love to answer if I can! Likewise, critique and feedback is as valuable as gold to me, so feel free to post suggestions or teardowns as you feel necessary. Thanks for stopping by!!
