Have you seen the second Battle Royale movie? Would you recommend it? I've been seeing some bad reviews about it..

I sure have!

I’ve written about it here a little bit, but it really depends on what you expect. If you are expecting the Battle Royale that we see in the first movie (kids killing each other) and overall love the concept of that, then you may feel disappointed. It’s more of a followup what happens to Shuya (which has gotten criticism as well but I myself find it VERY realistic, all things considered) and how the Government plans to deal with him. It has some similarities with the original, of course, but with a pinch of war twist to it, theme-wise.

Honestly though, I find it so really difficult to tell anyone whether or not they should see it, especially if it is only based on my own opinion. What you yourself like and expect from it, is so, so relevant. I didn’t like it at first when I saw it the first time. But after a while I let myself think about it, and watch it again later and my opinion was completely different then. There’s no wrong opinion on this, at all!

I recommend you’ll read the synopsis and then decide if it fascinated you enough. If you do end up watching it, feel free to later let me know what you think about it!
