Had this thought process while wearing sunglasses to cook dinner because a migraine was migraining

Joanna and Tywin share a redheaded paternal grandmother, Rohanne Webber Cersei and Jaime share a possibly* redheaded grandmother, Jeyne Marbrand Because their kids less diversity in the genepool and red hair is a recessive trait one of them stood a greater chance of being redheaded than the general population Now please note this next part of the thought process occurred while I was feeling the hysterical silliness of someone whose brain was hitting itself while trying to do complex tasks of cooking

Jaime very tired Robert went on a hunt and Cersei has been riding him hard the entire time: I do not see how drinking wine with gold shavings is going to achieve that Also various people who want to depose and replace Cersei with their kinswoman are frantically trying to do conception math to match up when various redheaded noblemen were at court At least one is trying subtly threaten Addam Marbrand who is very confused because 1) He's not stupid enough to cuckhold a king 2) None them kids look like him, he's rangy man as a boy he was a knobby scarecrow of a child they're the spitting image of the twins as children 3) He's never at court hello

Then the thought occurred to me any of the males from Rohanne and Jeyne's line could have red hair in their beards or pubes and I started thinking about consort Jaime swimming naked on Tarth and sunbathing nude Brienne admiring the reddish gold of his pubic hair in the sunlight before going to town on him

Ohhh and if Joffrey was a redhead it could make Cersei hate Sansa even more and push hard for even lesser Lannister cousins just to have her golden lions

(*Addam Marbrand is described by Tyrion and Sansa as having copper hair but we don't know if red hair is a Marbrand trait etc and how precisely his father Damon is related Jeyne)

What I mean is Myriah Martell was the heir, the Crown Princess and had to give that up to complete a very important peace deal and had Aegon the Unworthy for a father in law who very much wanted to go on a Dornish killing spree only to be thwarted by a storm destroying his raiding fleet, just constant hostility even when she was queen consort Elia Martell was a last resort (she was one of the few legitimate high born women with Targaryen ancestry and a journey in Essos to find an appropriate princely bride of Valyrian heritage ended in supreme failure), disrespected constantly by her father in law the king then disrespected very publicly by her husband, kept as a hostage to ensure cooperation of House Martell in the war effort even the manner of her death was not about her but the vengeance of a cruel and thin skinned lord over having his fee-fees hurt by their king

What type of stone is Harrenhal made of? Thee largest castle ever raised in Westeros, Harrenhal boasted five gargantuan towers, an inexhaustible source of fresh water, huge, subterranean vaults well stocked with provisions, and massive walls of black stone higher than any ladder and too thick to be broken by any ram or shattered by a trebuchet.

I can't recall if all the masonry is black or just the walls and I've always assumed it was basalt. Arya's POV has the most time in Harrenhall but she's a child without geology or masonry interests so her calling the stones black and not naming what kind of black stone is absolutely reasonable but AWoIaF (quoted above) doesn't say either

From what I remember of igneous of rocks basalt is one of the easier one to melt but still uh those are temps that humans cannot survive and the radiant heat coming off fire that hot could probably kill for like a mile or something To destroy bone above 2,012°F/1100C according to this

Also where tf was the quarry for all that basalt if Harrenhal or at least it's curtain wall was composed of basalt? The Riverlands is like mostly descended from alluvial delta etc. so where are the basalt deposits in Westeros and for that matter the mentions of basalt in Westeros are 1) Moat Cailin 2) Breakwater Castle on Sweet Sister 3) Blackhaven, the seat of Dondarrions

To the west of the Riverlands lay mountain range and north east even more mountain everybody knows that but what I don't think is common knowledge is how much did House Hoare's territory take up and how much of a trade relationship the other 6 kingdoms had with the settled ironborn. River barges would be an easy way to transport what ever type of stone Harren used to have Harrenhal built

The North has the Stoney Shore which is pretty much right above the Neck a lil bit west and the Far North plenty of mountain. Blackhaven is a bit southeast of Ashford, straight up inside and mountain range. Sweet Sister is culturally not the Vale but geographically close enough it might have some of the same geology or the just sourced it piracy still from the Vale back in the day easily enough.

One time I was trying to sleep and remembered an modern asoiaf I skimmed that was UK inspired and had all the Northern characters be Scottish, couldn't recall if any Free Folk characters appeared and wired sleepy brain suggested they'd be Hebrideans

I had a thought that started out funny and proceeded to go an icky direction because LF is gross: Someone in the Vale noticed the facial similarities between Catelyn, Lysa, and Alayane/Sansa coming to a conclusion that's close but wrong by a mile They conclude Lord Baelish's Alayne Stone is of Tully descent but they guess the wrong sister, Lysa. But it fits doesn't it? Why else but so eager to marry off such young bride to a man as old as, gods rest his noble soul, as Jon Arryn hmm? Spoiled but proven fertility for a line grown too thin! Maybe she was just too young to carry or was injured in childbed and that's why she struggled so with childbearing. No wonder she clung to little Robert so! Her first child sent away and nearly every child afterwards died.
