“What do you mean you’ve never heard of Tom and Jerry?!” you exclaimed to Brainy one day when he was to your place.
The 12th Level Intellect was clearly searching his circuits. “I’ve heard of Ben and Jerry’s...the ice cream...”
“Well, yeah. I love Ben and Jerry’s too, but I’m talking about Tom and Jerry, the cartoon.”
Brainy shook his head, lost.
“Okay,” you sighed, “Looks like it’s up to me to save the day.”
You only had one TV, and you decided when you moved to National City that you would put it in your bedroom for maximum comfort. It took guests a bit to get used to it, spending time in your bedroom, but your true friends didn’t mind. Brainy was one of those friends.
Two cartons of Ben and Jerry’s and about twelve episodes of Tom and Jerry later, you could barely keep your eyes open.
“So, what do you think?” you wondered as you settled further into the blankets.
Brainy answered, “I don’t find nearly as much amusement in this as you do, but it is adequate entertainment.”
“What?” You could barely hear him in your sleepy state.
Rethinking his current state of laying in bed with you, “Brainy instead notified, “I love it,” as he pulled you into his arms to sleep.

The wind got knocked out of you when you saw Brainy again. He felt the same. The hug the two of you shared was positively life-changing.
“I-It’s so nice to see you again,” you stuttered out, not wanting to overwhelm him.
Brainy stayed silent, burying his face into the crook of your neck. His processors were running a mile a minute. He could barely compute what he was experiencing. All Brainy knew was, in that moment, he couldn’t let you go.
Sensing what he was going through, you pulled Brainy closer. “Shh, shh. Just breathe through it. I’m right here with you,” you softly encouraged into his ear.
Querl hugged you tighter.

The poor 12th Level Intellect was puzzled. He couldn’t figure out why he missed you so much.
It was necessary to leave. The future needed heroes, and it was where he belonged, anyway. Yet, he couldn’t get her smile out of his mind.
Brainy knew it was wrong, but he was so happy when his distant, evil relative appeared. It meant Brainy could go back and see you. He would be forced to stay in your time because of the threat to his life in the future.
He was so excited to see you again. Mon-El noticed as much with Brainy’s immense clumsiness. He smiled at Brainy, recognizing the characteristics.

Automatically, you grinned. You loved how hard he tried to copy your use of nicknames.
Brainy continued, “I-I was wondering if you would like to go out with me tonight for dinner...alone...on a date...romantically--”
“Yes,” you gladly replied after a small giggle.
The 12th Level Intellect suddenly jumped. “Oh! And Director Danvers is looking for you.”
“Okay! I’m going to go find her, but let’s say 8 tonight at Jacobi’s. How’s that?”
It was aimed after you, but Brainy was more musing to himself, “Of course...my love...”
