Aftermath

A starter for @brainpuncher

Her morning mission was to find another possible member of S.E.E.S., after Akihiko’s injury became more complex due to his rashness at the most recent Shadow encounter. Of all things, she didn’t expect Akihiko-senpai to get heavily injured... But she indulged him by following him to a boxing match nearby, she saw a girl a little older than her, who went to Gekkoukan.

“There she is.” Akihiko seemed to know her. “Natalie Bushida. If there’s anyone who can compete with me, it’s her. Of course, we can’t compete, we’re in different classes of boxing.” Minako turned towards the girl, seeing her movements, her punches... Not exactly knowing what or where to look at...

“We have to recruit her. Maybe she has the potential.”

Minako could never be as scared of a human being. When Akihiko-senpai said that, the girl managed to hit a punch so hard, it knocked her opponent over. She gulped...

She spent the following night raising her knowledge on boxing terms and all. Akihiko spoke about techniques on the way back home, but once they arrived, Mitsuru’s concerned glare told them that he wouldn’t get to show off any of the moves, and he’d just teach her the terms. Even after that, she spent some time looking for anything involving boxing, anything to approach this girl.

She walked the hallways of school after it was over, looking for this girl. She tried to go over how to start the conversation in her head. She’d introduce herself, mention the match yesterday, point out one thing she saw, use terminology... Wait, would it be better not to introduce herself? Maybe she could get the other’s attention by-

“Ack!” Suddenly, she found the girl right in front of her, exiting a classroom. “B-Bushida-senpai! Your match yesterday was astounding, I loved how you moved around the ring and did some punches to the central whatever-it’s-called and put your opponent at a disadvantage and- A-ah! I’m Minako! I-I mean, Arisato! Minako Arisato, and you’re Natalie Bushida! H-Hi!”

It’s the day...the day of the boxing match that Natalie told you about, and of course, for the one she gave you a ticket.

You’re waiting in front of the building she told you to go to, after surprisingly convincing your sister of it being an educational experience, that in a sense, can be. While you came to enjoy the match, you’re also hoping to remember some of the movements to keep them in mind for the Metaverse.

“Well...it should be here...I hope I didn’t get the wrong building or something.” You said as you looked down at the screen of your phone. You decided to come a little earlier so you could message her and warn you were here.

Now all you were waiting for was for her to come look for you before the preparations of the match.

Despite a lack of getting hit, Naoto had improved as Natalie watched.

“‘You can hit me at least once’, says the future champion in the Youth Boxing circles. I highly doubt that my decent skills will be a match.” Yes, she had taken a self-defense course her colleague had recommended since she’d need that for more, but she wouldn’t complaint on a leeway method to spend time with her girlfriend. She had already gotten encouragement and private boxing lessons from Natalie but nobody but Rise and Kanji knew about it. 

She raised the boxing gloves to the height of her chest and tried an uppercut punch to Natalie’s left side, and followed that with a jab to try to take advantage of humans’ natural defense mechanism of dodging to the opposite direction. It wasn’t guaranteed to work, but she wanted to see if it did out of pure curiosity.

“Sorry I was a bit late, the bus was more late than I wanted -” It was things like this why she considered to get over her distaste trauma on motorcycles and cars and get a driving license alongside a motorcycle which matched her own style and Natalie’s own motorcycle if possible. She’d promised that she would have a sleepover since Natalie’s parents seemed to live at their workplaces instead of the luxurious apartment and she would be on time by the accuracy on seconds. 

Naoto blinked and looked not impressive on knowing how to precisely act in this social situation: her hesitation when saying her piece despite she knew damn well Natalie didn’t care of she was a bumbling mess showed clearly. “Uh, sorry if I interrupted you on that. Yosuke-san really wasn’t pulling my leg when telling on how you can play guitar well - that is really impressive and you’re a natural in that. Do you mind telling what song you were playing?”

 “Do you have any plans after the match which is already booked? I thought that it’d be nice to have a sleepover like we had last year. When you have time, that is - I don't want to be in the way too much.” Naoto wasn't making any assumptions on her girlfriend's schedule and wasn't really asking much. They both would have hectic lives and this kind of "negotiating" was necessary if they wanted to flourish as a couple.

She was more than ready to prove some of her "fans" wrong in how the possible obstacles like clashing reputations and a risk in her professional and personal life.

Naoto doesn't seem to realize what photos Natalie was looking at in the moving box she still hasn't bothered to remove to the storage unit she owns and her reaction of "oh God no" came as delayed.

“Oh my dear God, you're looking at those pictures? Just - I'm not that adorable if you ask me." She looked embarrassed and mused almost in a less firm voice tone how she'd rather give her the whole tour on family pictures if she's already gone down that path. "Though, you need to show the pictures you have as an equal exchange."
