So Utena is an introvert right? She’s definitely more social than Anthy which makes it easy to forget that Utena is definitely the introvert that Wakaba (extrovert of all time) absolutely adopted!
Like, she definitely likes people and generally gets along well with most but have you noticed how she rarely ever goes out of her way to make new friends? She seems content to hang out with a limited few people and she only really seems to hang out with people who approached her first, see: all of the student council except for Saionji who she approached first to beat him up.
I do think this is a huge point to why she and Anthy get along so well and why she prefers Anthy’s company above anyone else’s. Like we see her just happily hang out in the greenhouse doing quiet activities with Anthy all the time in the later seasons and I just think that’s so sweet!! Like Anthy is someone Utena can hang out with in silence without it being weird and I think she’s also someone who doesn’t take any energy for her to be around. She’s only ever truly happy when she’s with Anthy ;u; And then that line she says in the manga about how she feels like she can just be herself and just feels calm and at home with Anthy. It’s bc yall both gay little introverts who are also in love!! They just work so well together, I love them so much they make me so unwell
