Thinking about making a heather the musical au that’s more movie accurate.
- Beautiful doesn’t really fit in with the tone or how the movie starts so idk that could be scrapped
- Martha will probably still have her song, but she won’t be as major of a character??
- Big Fun is the Remington party or something, and Veronica’s lyrics would probably not be as optimistic because she did not enjoy that party iirc
- If ‘You’re Welcome’ was used, I would edit it slightly to be with just Heather McNamara rather than Veronica alone because...movie. I don’t think she’d do much, but giving Veronica slightly more morality than the movie would be fine
- Shine a light, if it were used because honestly I don’t mind the change of Miss Flemming leading it compared to McNamara calling up the radion station, might be altered to be more of an anonymous calling thing the school set up instead of just a radio because that’d probably fit well
- Shine a light reprise could be less duke and more McNamara singing to herself instead of Duke. How this would work? I don’t know. Maybe she just stands there and sings it whilst the ensemble slowly joins throughout the song??
- I Say No is one of my favs so idk might keep that in
- Most songs in Act 2 would be only slightly altered I think.
- For characters, I propose a more confident but slightly socially awkward McNamara, more snarky Veronica (Like Barrett. I love Carrie as Veronica but Barrett holds a closer personality to Movie Veronica), a more shy book-ish Duke pre-Chandler death and a more confident version of herself after Chandler’s death.
- Not sure if I would add Betty back in because she doesn’t have much bearing on the plot and might drag out some of the musical so she might stay cut
