Idiots <3
These guys
Squirrelflight: I thought fat guys were supposed to be jolly
Brambleclaw: Hey, I’m not fat. It’s this fur that makes me look big… It’s poofy!
Squirrelflight: Oh okay (as he’s walking away) He’s fat
Something that frustrates me
I find it very frustrating that we rarely get a scene of SquirrelBramble being loving mates. In The Broken Code, they keep bringing up how much they love each other, but when they're together, all they seem to do is argue. It's like the writers are so used to writing them like that, they don't know how to write them any other way.
BUT THEN I found out there was a bonus scene in the beginning of A Vision Of Shadows arc where we see a heavily pregnant Squirrelflight being restless, so she and Bramblestar take a walk around the forest. They get attacked by a badger, Bramblestar tells her to run and protect their unborn kits, but Squirrelflight doesn't want to leave him behind so she helps him fight off the badger. When the badger was driven off, Bramblestar calls Squirrelflight amazing and they have a very cute moment together.
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE MORE SCENES LIKE THIS!!!???? Kate, if you believe they need to communicate more, then why didn't you have them do that! If the writing team had no intention of breaking them up, then why do they insist we see the worst sides of their relationship instead of sides that justifies them being together!? If they were capable of writing scenes like this with the badger, then why don't we have more scenes like it!? Would it really kill them to write them growing from their communication issues!?
I know that since it's a popular series, there can be multiple factors since the writing isn't restricted to one writer. Heck, it's the reason why we get so many continuity errors. So do the higher ups just don't feel comfortable writing them in any other way? If anything, that just makes feel even more frustrated, especially since one of the few good scenes that BrambleSquirrel have is in a bonus scene, one that not everyone will get to see.
Sorry, I just needed to vent.

I forgot to mention it earlier today, but my Valentine's day Warriors fic is out! I ended up going with Squirrelstar and Brambleclaw, since that's the one that I had the clearest vision for in the end.
Summary:
With her mate teetering on the precipice between life and death, for the first time, Squirrelstar has to face the possibility of her life without Brambleclaw in it.
