tysm i really appreciate it! in the fic im writing right now, a house is being scavenged and im sort of worried about the terms im using to describe it and its contents because googling it brings up a lot of different/conflicting answers. is it more common to use the term cradle, bassinet, or crib for a baby's bed? i was also wondering if it is more likely for them to find Panadol instead of aspirin? (sorry these are odd questions!)

Hmm, I guess crib would be the term we use most often. I’m not actually 100% on that one, but I don’t think crib would strike anyone as being out of place. And yeah, you’d be more likely to find panadol (or neurofen), although aspirin isn’t particularly unlikely to be around. Hope that helps :)

luffy has decided to decorate his hat with whatever he finds (including some random stuff of his crews), and the crew is starting to notice their stuff disappearing....

He must’ve gotten it from Nami, Usopp decided as he looked down at his captain, sitting cross-legged on the deck.

“C’moooon, Usopp…”

“No.” Luffy pouted. “Listen. The flowers made sense. They look nice. The paper crane from Robin made sense. I guess I can understand the dollar. But Zoro’s sword?” Luffy looked up indignantly, as if he was being accused of stealing. Which, unbeknownst to him, he was. Sort of.

“It looks cool, okay?! And he wouldn’t let me use it if I asked!” Usopp sighed, and pinched the bridge of his nose. Why was he doing this, again? Right, because Robin and Brook would be too lenient in their scolding, and everyone else would be too harsh. Just the right amount, Nami said as she pulled the dollar— “her” dollar, off of Luffy’s hat.

“No, I suppose not. And actually, you looked kind of ridiculous with the sword strapped there. But, honestly, why did you think of attaching a sword to your hat? Actually, why did you think of attaching,” Usopp gestured broadly to the pile of currently confiscated things Luffy had decorated, or had tried to decorate his hat with, “Any of this? What was the point?” Luffy shrugged.

“Dunno. Seemed like it would be cool.” What a Luffy-like response. Usopp didn’t know what he expected. “Everyone got so much cool stuff after the two years, and I wanted some too! I was stuck on an island, you know! What was I supposed to bring back?” Usopp blinked.

“Nobody really brought anything back.”

“Nuh-uh, Zoro’s got his swords! And you got your shooty things!” My shooty things… Usopp cleared his throat.

“Zoro’s always had his swords. But fine. Let’s say you walk around with all this stuff on your hat. What would you do if it ripped? Or got stained?” Luffy’s brows furrowed.

“Well, I…” He leaned back, looking into the sky. “I would get really upset!” Yeah, that’s what I thought. Luffy jumped up, frustrated. “But, think about it! If you let me keep all of that, I’d have part of you guys with me everywhere I went! Then if we got separated again, I wouldn’t be lonely!” Usopp laughed a tad.

“You? Lonely? You make friends everywhere you go! And you’re going to be the pirate king, a little bit of loneliness wouldn’t stop you! You never had to strap anything to your hat before!” All of the sudden, Luffy made a face Usopp had never seen before. He glanced to the side as if suddenly self-conscious.

“…No. I used to have something strapped to my hat. Felt like someone was with me.” He mumbled the last part so that Usopp barely caught it.

“…I don’t remember. What was it?” Luffy looked down, shuffling his feet. A long silence stretched through the air, and a weird feeling of unease crept up on Usopp.

“…Ace’s vivre card.” It hit Usopp like a bullet.

Oh.

Oh shit.

Usopp was slapping himself mentally. God, why did he ask?! He was such a fool!!! The silence extended as Usopp mentally screamed every curse word he knew.

“I—”

“It’s cool.” Luffy smiled a little, somehow just knowing whatever Usopp was about to say. “‘S cool. Really.” Usopp let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Things were gonna get real awkward if he didn’t say something soon.

“Hey,” His voice cracked a little and Luffy heard a small “shit” come from Usopp. Usopp cleared his throat. “I’ll ask Nami if we can get you something for your hat. Something really nice.” So we’ll always be with you. Because it won’t stop them, but even pirate kings get lonely. Luffy blinked, then beamed a grin that could’ve easily taken the name of the Thousand Sunny.

“Hell yeah! Can I choose??”

And as expected, Zoro said no when Usopp and Luffy asked if they could stick one of his swords to Luffy’s hat.
