The most dangerous thing a human being can develop is the ability to watch their own mind. Not to control it or suppress it just watch it neuroscience calls this metacognition: the ability to think about your own thinking. To observe your thoughts, your emotions your patterns, from above them instead of inside them. Ancient traditions called the witness stage and they build entire spiritual systems developing it because they understood something modern science is now just catching up to. When you can watch your own emotions like whether passing through when you can say, I’m angry right now, but that’s not who I am it’s just what I’m experiencing. You stepped outside the automatic program that most people run their entire lives without ever questioning. When you can pass between feeling and reacting that tiny space that fraction of a second that’s not just emotional intelligence according to what I’ve been researching that pause is the meta-awareness that the ancients described as the gateway to hire consciousness. Most people feel and react instantly, automatically. A person with developed meta cognition feels then pauses then observes and then chooses. That pause that tiny second is everything. You can clean your body you can optimize your nervous system but if you can’t observe your own mind if you’re still at the mercy of every emotion and every trigger and every old pattern running on autopilot you will use the clarity you build to repeat the same cycles at a higher frequency. Self-awareness isn’t soft it’s the most advanced thing that a human being can develop it’s about becoming someone who can watch themselves clearly.
