putting aftg characters in situations that happen to me
aaron and katelyn are going steady, their lives are planned out and they’re going places and are soon to end their time at PSU. but in a garbled text before valentine’s day, katelyn says those dreaded words— i think we should break up.
she reassures him it’s nothing he did or his family driving her away. it’s just that over time she simply… fell out of love. her interest had dwindled and her romantic feelings had plateaued and then decreased slowly as she contemplated her emotions.
he can only assume this is why she hesitantly backed out of their travel plans for the week, claiming that her internship required her to work despite previously telling him she’d gotten the time off. he doesn’t know how to feel.
he stares at the gifts he’d gotten for her, knowing it was much too late to return them. the spiral of self hate can’t even begin because she so adamantly said it was nothing he did and that she even wanted to remain friends. but where did that leave him? angry at time lost? sad with love gone? mourning because he still loved a woman who didn’t love him back? jaded because how could he have gotten his hopes up?
so he gives himself 30 minutes. in that time he screams and he cries and he curses. but when the last minute has concluded, he wears a mask of apathy. perhaps he will go buy some chocolate.
