Story Time: That Time I Cursed Dennis my Menace with a Bullshit Curse and Figured Out How Magick Worked
In 8th grade, I had been going to the same christian bible school for 12 years and I hated it. I had just been held back and the only “friends” I had were kids I knew from the church’s sunday school (which was in the same building I had regular school in). One of them was named Dennis, who we accurately called “Dennis the Menace.”
One day, Dennis was being awfully annoying and abrasive and I was just tired of it. I jokingly told him that I cast a curse on him, waving my hands and calling it the curse of the starfish (something I came up with on the spot - I had just watched Charlie the Unicorn that morning).
After he left, I thought nothing of it until hours later when the poor guy runs up to me begging me to take the curse off of him because he had been having a terrible day. I told him it was fake but he insisted it had worked anyways. I rolled my eyes, wiggled my fingers and (thinking of another youtube video I liked) told him I had cast the blessing of the honey badger on him. Throughout the rest of the day, he was fine.
For most of my life, I didn’t really understand and at best I chalked it up to placebo. It wasn’t until I began my study of magick that I figured it out and found out how much the placebo effect - the very belief that something happened - has to do with magick.
