Oh yeah, I always forget you like tarot as well. (Nonjudgmental tone meant, I find it fascinating.) Do you like it more for self reflection or do you believe in it's more occult reputation? Where'd you get your first tarot deck?

Much as with my relationship to actual faith in a divine, I go back and forth. I generally use it for reflection or creative inspiration, but occasionally it's fun to try prognosticating and see what happens. I don't believe the cards themselves have any power, any more than a Ouija Board printed by Hasbro has the power to summon a demon. I adhere to the philosophy of the Ramtops witches -- the power is in the person, the cards just help find it. And are fine for a game of rummy once in a while :D

My first deck of fortune telling cards wasn't actually Tarot; it was a gift someone gave me, I don't know who, and was modeled more closely on a modern playing card deck (no Major Arcana). My first Tarot proper was an accident -- I'd gotten a gift card to a nerdy tabletop and board game store in high school and had intended to buy a game called Set, which was super popular at my high school, but they were sold out. I spotted a deck of Egyptian themed tarot cards and bought that instead, and even though at this point I recognize it's a bit appropriative, it's still the deck I'm most closely bonded with.

Though these days I use the deck I designed a lot more often, I find it much easier to work with (in part because I built it with my ADHD in mind).
