I know there are a lot of Annual Divination Spreads out there to practice for the New Year, but I actually wanted to do one that was a bit on the shorter side. (I’ve listened to a lot of long readings about what I can expect in 2020 and I’m a little worn out, tbh.)
So thankfully, Emerald Lotus Divination posted a short one on Instagram, and this was how I kicked off my new year.
And here are my results ...
Ignore the card in the upper left hand corner for a moment, and you can see I divined the following:
1. Card to represent my year ahead as a whole
To me, this implied that I can expect my year ahead to be largely one of harmony, happiness and contentment with friends, family and more. I could use a lot of that considering the last 3 years I’ve dealt with, not to mention the last decade as a whole.
2. An important lesson for me this upcoming year
I saw this and immediately said, “Uh oh.” But then I remembered that Tower moments can be a good thing. They mark the destruction of old constructs that no longer serve you and need to be removed so that the light of truth and higher consciousness prevail. This year, an ideal of mine may collapse, but I will gain new wisdom from the situation that I can use in the future.
3. How I can progress on my spiritual path
This feels like it’s telling me to seek progress through mental clarity. I’ll need a mind that’s mentally acute to face the challenges and truths on my spiritual path this year. And the best way for me to progress and move forward is to seek mental clarity at every step along the way.
4. How I can stay connected to my inner truth
At first, I was confused by this. But as I dug deeper, I felt like it was telling me that to stay connected to my inner truth, I need to go outside my comfort zone and question my concept of ideals. At the end of the day, we only know who we truly are after we’ve been tested by circumstances that don’t fit our ideal world or exist outside our comfort zone. To me, spirit was saying that in order to stay connected to my inner truth, I needed to go beyond my comfort zone.
5. What new opportunities await me this year
What a lucky draw, right? This one is pretty much what it says on the tin. This year, accomplishment, happiness, and a dream come true await me. A project will be concluded, a difficult dilemma will be resolved, and a celebration will be had.
Not a bad reading, I think. As for the card in the upper left corner, that is an Adinkra guidance card, and I pull one during every tarot reading. I treat them as a conduit to my ancestors, and ask for a message they’d like to send to me that they think I need to learn or be reminded of most for the day.
For the 1st of January, the card I pulled from the Adinkra deck was this...
A nice complement to the Year Ahead tarot spread message, n'est-ce pas ?
