This vigorous Spiraea 'Arguta' (bridal wreath) was thriving in this small raised bed and producing these cascading branches of foaming flowers. Once established the deciduous shrub can be pruned after flowering removing the flowered shoots to a bud. On mature specimens it is possible to cut back a quarter to a fifth of the old shoots to the base.

The long flower stems of the Chilean Francoa sonchifolia (bridal wreath) rise above a mound of foliage. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soil in a sheltered, sunny position. The flowers last well as a cut flower.
