I’m seeing Pirates of Penzance tomorrow so I need to practice what I intend on writing in Briggle’s card, so:
Dear Gary, I hope I’m able to give you this card after seeing ‘Pirates of Penzance’ because I’d feel remiss if I didn’t get a chance thank you! I wasn’t able to get a hold of you before my spring semester began, but, due in no small part to your letter of recommendation, I got accepted to Marymount Manhattan college and will be returning for my second semester there later this month. I’m lucky enough to feel unequivocally at home both at Marymount and in NYC, and have learned lots, both about Theatre and myself since last we talked. This upcoming semester I’ll be doing costume design for the MainStage show and taking a multitude of Theatre classes (as well as classes on Gender and Sexuality Studies, which I’m minoring in). I just wanted to be sure to update you since your kindness, support, and guidance has helped me profoundly and made me who I am, and I’m tremendously thankful! I’m grateful also for the opportunity to see you perform again, especially this show, which, because of the opportunity you gave me 3 years ago, has a special place in my heart! I hope things are going well for you (and Wendy), and, for the record, I still owe you a meal at Perkins sometime (if it doesn’t work before I’m back in NYC, I’ll be back in Minnesota from December 22nd until the end of January). You’re a marvelous soul and I’m incredibly thankful to have you in my life!
