Plus One Pt. 2 Kandomere x Reader Imagine

Kandomere watched the video over and over again. The hospital surveillance had been the only witness to your leaving but gave no reason for why and Kandomere’s heart was breaking with every second that passed. Had the inferni got to you? Has someone used magic on you? Had someone got in touch with you and threatened you? All this thoughts raced through his mind. He was supposed to keep you and the baby safe! He failed! “Damn it!” He stood quickly, the need for answers eating him alive. “Montehugh! What have you learned from the staff.” The red headed agent didn’t flinch at the bite in the elf’s voice, he couldn’t even imagine how he would feel if his wife had gone missing. Looking at his notes he gave a heavy sigh, “(Y/N) didn’t speak to anyone. The nurses at the front desk said she looked to be upset and crying but assumed she needed time to herself because you had been shot.” Kandomere’s icy eyes met his partner’s, “I want agents on rotation looking for her 24/7.” Montehugh nodded, “Already ordered.” Taking a shaky breath the elf looked at his partner, “We have to find them. We have too.” “We will, Boss. We won’t stop until we find them.”

You sighed running your hands through your hair. You’re miserable. It’s been a month since you left your husband in the hospital and you thought it would get easier believing he was safer but it hadn’t. Really this has been the worst you have ever felt. A glass of juice was sat down in front of you stealing you from your thoughts. “(Y/N), go back home. You’re so sad and Kando is missing so many firsts with you.” Your eyes meet the kind eyes of your family’s dearest friend, Reinee. She had been best friends with your grandmother and remained close with the family after her passing and your mother’s passing. She is a blessing.

“I have to keep him and the baby safe Reeree. He’s been so distracted with the baby he wasn’t even able to keep from getting hurt. And I...” You wipe at tears free falling from your eyes, “I can’t loose this baby. Seeing him in that hospital, it was too much.” The old woman gave you a sad smile, “That’s what marriage is about. You face these things head on with each other. You lean on each other. Running away has never solved anything honey and it never will. You and Kando have a bond much stronger than many I have known through my life. Give him more credit.” You know she’s right but how would you go back now? What would you say? “What if it’s too late?” Reinee smiled giving a giggle, “Oh (Y/N), I can truly say I have never seen an elf so in love as Kando is with you. He will understand.” You gave her a sad smile and drink your juice.

8weeks, 2 months. That’s how long you have been gone. Kandomere has slowly slipped into insanity, ordering agents to do tasks that were absolutely unethical and damn near impossible. Montehugh has been the only one who has kept him grounded. Promises of finding you has no affect on the elf now, he is full of quiet rage and is now looking for the inferni for answers before killing them. He’s sure he would have found you by now but with you disappearing he has to face the truth. You and the baby may not be alive. The thought makes him sick, it has kept him from eating, from sleeping, from caring. He looks like hell, he feels like hell and when he finds those responsible and takes care of them he will join you in death, a plan he hasn’t shared with anyone, only with you in his mind. He will be with his family no matter what.

Montehugh broke him away from his thoughts, “We have the leader, he’s entering the hotel room no...” Before he could finish Kandomere was already out of the car and running towards the inferni elf. The elf heard the incoming steps and turned to fight but didn’t have a chance, Kandomere’s rage was too much and the agent had him on the floor staring at bared teeth. “Where is she?” The inferni leader looked confused, “Who? We haven’t taken any women, we haven’t had a need for them.” Raising his hand, Kandomere prepares to rip out the other elf’s throat before stopped by his partner. “Boss! No! Not like this! No!” The agent stopped. “I find out you had something to do with my wife’s disappearance, nothing will stop me. NOTHING!” He roared before walking away and letting Montehugh take control of the situation.

While transporting the inferni elf to the mtf, Montehugh knew he had to do something. Kandomere was becoming more aggressive and careless. Not a good combination. After the suspect was booked and held in a room Montehugh excused himself and called a higher up, something he would never do but he was worried and frankly, Kandomere was scaring him. He needed to take a break and he knew his boss wouldn’t take it on his own.

Reinee watched you rest and decided that fate wasn’t working fast enough. She left for her room and once inside she picked up the phone and dialed a number. “Yes, I’m needing to speak to Agent Kandomere. My name is Reinee Lenson.”

Kandomere answered the phone, “Reinee, have you seen (Y/N)?” The older woman couldn’t help but smile at his tone, he really loves you and she really appreciates a good love. “She’s here. And before you ask, no I will not tell you why. I will say she is miserably and she needs you. Please find it in your heart to understand her reasoning.” Kandomere let a breath of relief, “She’s safe. Thank god, she’s safe. The baby?” He asked quickly. “All is well. I will have a large dinner prepared for your family’s reunion the day after tomorrow. Remember, keep an open heart.” Kandomere let tears fall freely, “I will listen to whatever she says and I will hold nothing against her. I just want her back home with me.” Reinee smiles, “Yes and she will be. Good evening.” She hung up the phone and gave a giggle, finally broken hearts can mend. Kandomere hung up and immediately got a hold of Montehugh.

One the other side of the city, Becron had listened to while conversation and traced where Reinee had called from. He was released due to not enough evidence to hold him and now he will get Kandomere where it hurts. He got in the car with his second in command, “This is where we are going. Step on it.”

My Bright AU...

Like others, my brain is addicted to creating an intricate Bright universe. And as I’m writing it, the stuff that happens after Bright the movie, is in the country, or just not really in LA. It starts there, but they all end up outside of LA. And there are lots of Centaurs, dwarves and Giants. I’m going with Giants that are 12-15 feet tall.

As a teacher I run across many heart breaking situations. (Story for Bright AU) PT 3

I crawled into bed around 12:30am, I couldn’t stop checking on Yavanna. She was sleeping soundly leaving me with the stress of worrying. Kandomere had left strict instructions to keep my phone on Incase he got an urgent update. Taking a deep breath I stare at the ceiling and wonder what I have gotten myself into. Yavanna is such a sweet child and doesn’t in anyway deserve the life she has been delt. It may be more than I take on at first but I’m sure we can set a routine that makes life easier for the both of us. I close my eyes and drift somewhere between sleep and being awake when I hear a soft voice. “Ms. Ross. Ms. Ross?” I open my eyes to see Yavanna standing next to the bed. Jo groaned and beat her tail sleepily against the bed at the little girl.

“Yavanna? What’s wrong honey, you should be in bed.” Sitting up I turn on my bed side lamp and see the little girl has been crying. “Yavanna, what’s wrong?” She crawled up on the bed and into my lap, snuggling close to me, “I had a bad dweam. Can I sweep with you?” I held her close, “Of course you can. Let’s try to go potty first, okay.” With our bathroom business done, we both crawl into bed. I turn off the light and lay down feeling the little girl snuggle against me and Jo flop down on the edge of the bed by her feet. I giggle silently and kiss her head, “Get some sleep, sweetie. We have a big day tomorrow at school.” I fell asleep thankful for the second full day of school falling on a Friday, we both will be exhausted.

Waking up at 5:30am I slipped quietly from the bed to let Yavanna sleep a while longer. Jo follows me and I let her out to do her business and take a shower. Afterwards I let Jo in and watch as she pads back to bedroom to lay back down with Yavanna. I decided to make some pancakes and bacon for breakfast, sure the school breakfast was available but I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible and explain that at school I will Ms. Ross, the teacher. I set her plate on the table and entered the bedroom to wake her up. “Yavanna, it’s time to wake up.” She opened her big eyes and stretched, “Hi, Ms. Ross.” I smiled at her, “Good morning. How about some pancakes and bacon for breakfast?” She smiled and sat up rubbing her eyes, “Yeah.” She said a bit more awake. “Good. Go potty and wash up, your plate is on the table, okay.” She crawled out of bed and ran to the bathroom with Jo following close behind.

Yavanna hummed happily as we made our way to the school. She had a good rest and a full tummy, that makes for a happy little girl. I felt a little apprehensive about giving the guardianship paperwork to the office, I didn’t want her pulled from my class. Though Kandomere reassured me it wouldn’t happen I still held on to the worry. I park the car and get Yavanna out along with my bag and materials for the day. “Kandy’er!” Hearing Yavanna yell his name I turn to watch her run to him. The sharp dressed elf picks her up and smiles, “Are you ready for the day?” She nods dramatically, “Ms. Ross made me pancakes and bacon and I gave some to Jo.” He chuckles as he approached me, “Good morning Ms. Ross.” I smile nervously at the agent, “Good morning, Kandomere. Is everything okay?” The elf nodded, “I came to see you both off before going into the office.” He gives me a serious look while Yavanna is messing with his tie, “If you need me, call me. I will answer.” I nod and smile looking away to had my giggles, Yavanna had his tie all crooked and all messed up. “He smiled at the girl, “How can I go into work like this?” Setting her down on her feet, the girl wittily gives back, “I didn’t do it, my hand did.” He chuckles at the girl fixing his tie and I just giggle dumbfounded at how the uptight agent let’s a little girl get away with messing up his tie. “Have a good day, Kandomere. I’ll call if anything arises.” He nods at me and winks at Yavanna before leaving. “Bye Kandy’er!”

The office took the paperwork and the girls congratulated me on my newly acquired parenthood. Yavanna took one of the desks in the front as the other children filed in. The day was flawless and I was surprised by how open Yavanna was with the other children. Making friends seemed so easy for her. At the end of the day I checked my phone and was relieved I hadn’t missed any calls or messages. “Ready to head out?” I asked her. She had her backpack on and nodded. Taking her hand, we made our way to the car and headed home. Looking in my review mirror, I could see her dozing. A long night and a full day of school was definitely taking it’s toll on both of us. As I make the turn on the street my house is on, I see Kandomere’s car in the drive way. I pull up next to it and look at the sleeping elf in the back before getting out, Kandomere exits his vehicle at the same time and approaches, “How was your day?” He asks looking through the window at the little girl. “It was a good day. We are both wore out.” He nods opening the door unbuckling the girl and leads the way to the front door carrying her. I unlock the door and we enter, he walks to her bedroom and lays her down before rejoining me. “Is everything okay, Kandomere?” He smiled, “Yes, seeing me doesn’t always mean something is wrong, I just wanted greet you, I knew you both would be tired.” I gave a chuckle and nodded, “You nailed it.” He smiled, “Go, Get relaxed, I’ll make dinner.” I cocked my head at him, “Really?” He cocked an eyebrow at me, “Go.” And I did, leaving him to enter my bedroom to get into leggings and an oversized tunic. “What are you not telling me, Kandomere.” I asked aloud in the empty room.

As we make our way home it occurs to me I have no idea how to take care of an elven girl. At a stop light I text Kandomere...

“I have no idea what shampoo or conditioner I should use for her. Is she going to need something different than what I use? Also, her hair is very matted and dirty. Any and all tips will be appreciated.”

The light turns green and I drive on. Looking in my rear view mirror I see Yavanna fast asleep. My heart breaks further for her. “I will protect you. No matter the cost.” I whisper the words realizing how much I mean them. I’ve known this child for less than 12 hours and already love her. My thoughts are interrupted by my phone tinging. A message from Kandomere...

“I’ll take care of getting what you need. When you get home, feed her and have her prepared for meeting me.”

I read his message at a stop sign and my heart sinks. He knows something and he doesn’t want her afraid of him. What has this baby been through? My thoughts are running wild as pull into the drive, I unbuckle my seat seat belt and speak softly, “Yavanna, we’re here. Wake up honey.” She opens her eyes and stretches as I get out and open her door. “Come on sweetie, let’s make some dinner.” She gets out of the car and holds my hand as we enter the house. It isn’t big by any means but it is comfortable and nice. I kneel down and look at her, “Are you afraid dogs honey?” She shakes her head no and I smile, I have someone I want you meet. She follows me to one of the 3 bedrooms and I open the door. “Jo! There’s my good girl!” The German Shepherd jumps out of her bed and greets me with a wagging tail. Yavanna peeks around the door frame and their eyes lock. Jo cocks her head looking at the little girl than walks forward giving her a sniff. The child laughs and instantly Jo is bathing her in kisses and whines of excitement.

“Come on guys.” I say as we walk through the living room to the kitchen to the back door. Opening it I let Jo out and look to the girl, “Do you want to go play with her?” She nodded so I smiled and said, “Go on, I’ll call when dinner is done.” She smiled and took off after Jo, I watched as they chased each other and played fetch. Taking a breath I took chicken out of fridge I had thawing and started dinner.

“Okay, time to come in.” I was greeted by a happy girl and worn out dog. I giggled walking her to the bathroom, “wash up, okay.” She nodded and I headed back to the kitchen to make our plates. After washing she joined me and we ate chicken and rice. After cleaning the dishes I asked if she wanted some ice cream. “Yeah!” I giggled at her response and got two bowls filling them with chocolate ice cream. While we ate I thought it was good opportunity to talk to her about Kandomere. “Yavanna, a good friend of mine is coming over soon. His name is Kandomere.” She stopped eating and gave me a nervous look. “Do you know him?” I asked. She shook her head no. “I promise he will not hurt you or take you away. He is helping us, so you can stay.” She looked at me with tears in her eyes. “Did they find momma? I don’t want to go back to momma.” I was taken a back by how blunt this child was. “Why baby?” I asked. “She will just leave me again.” She looked away. “What about your grandma and grandpa? Your dad?” She looked at me, and the words she spoke chilled me to the bone. “Daddy killed them.” Before I could ask anything else the door bell rang. “Yavanna, he will not take you away. I promise. Okay.” She nodded and started eating her ice cream again.

I answered the door, “Kandomere, she just told me...” He cut me off by finishing, “She doesn’t want to go back to her mother because she has tried leaving her before.” I looked at him, shocked. “Yes.” He tucked a strand of blue hair behind his ear before finishing. “Her father is an inferni covern leader in New York, my theory is she left her to keep him from finding her.” I cocked my head at him, “What the hell, Kandomere. Just dumping her in a school praying some pervert doesn’t get a hold of her is short of any saving grace.” He placed his hand on my shoulder, “She left her with you. That is a saving grace.” I sighed shaking my head, “she’s in the kitchen.” We walk in and Yavanna looks up at him from her ice cream. “Ms. Ross said you won’t take me away.” Kandomere sits in a chair next to her and nods, “That’s right, I won’t take you away.” She looked to me and smiled. Lifting his bag he says, “I have some gifts for you, Yavanna. First, let’s wash your hair and get it untangled.” She nodded and he stood taking his chair to the sink. He patted the seat and she ran and climbed in it. He took off his suit jacket, took his cuff links off and rolled up his sleeves. Taking her cap off he says, “Let’s see what we have here.” I could see the disgust in his eyes but he hid it well from her. He showed me how to used a detangler, with in seconds her hair was long and free flowing. Next he washed her hair with shampoo then conditioner. I could see the difference, she was feeling so much better. “You’re done, now, go with Ms. Ross for your bath.” He gave me the bath soap and assured me he would waiting for us when we returned.

After running the water and throwing her clothes in a bag, I put her hair up and we washed her clean. Getting her out I pulled the plug. After drying her off I put a big shirt on her and a pair of panties I had grabbed from the extra clothes at school. Opening the door she ran out and I turned back to the tub. I had never seen a dirt ring so dark. Deciding to clean it later I joined them in the kitchen, surprised to find her on his lap. He was showing her pictures of men he knew were involved in the New York covern and was skillfully getting her to pick out the picture of her daddy. “Him. He is a bad man. He hurts people.” Kandomere just looked at her and asked who he hurt. “Ummmm... my grandma, my grandpa, my momma, my bubba. But bubba is in heaven now.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat, my gosh. Taking a very serious tone, the five year old told him, “Don’t make me go back. He is mad at me and momma.” Kandomere nodded, “You won’t go back, honey.” She nodded rubbing her eyes, “I think it’s time we show you your room and put you to bed.” She looked at me and nodded. “Night Kandy’er.” He smirked at her, “Good night Yavanna.” I got her in the room and tucked in the bed. “Did you know I was coming?” She asked sleepily. “I just knew someone very special would come. That special someone is you.” I bopped her on the nose and she giggled. “Night Ms. Ross.” I smiled, “Good night, Yavanna.” I closed the door behind me and joined Kandomere in the kitchen. “So, now what?” I asked afraid to hear the answer. “We don’t know where she is and I don’t want him near her, I have paperwork I pushed through giving you primary guardianship until further notice.” I sat down at the table, “Okay. What, I mean I have no idea how to raise an elf.” Without missing a beat he says, “I’m here to help.”

I checked on Yavanna after changing and the little girl was fast asleep. I got her night clothes and replaced her school clothes with them without even waking her up. Before leaving I kiss her head and whisper good night. I rejoined Kandomere in the kitchen, having a seat at the table I watch him work. He had taken his suit jacket off and put on my apron, making me wish I was brave enough to take a picture. My smile faded as I really took him in, seeing his muscles roll under his shirt was astounding, the guy is ripped and he must know it. Being friends as long as we have, left me wondering why I had never taken notice before. Perhaps it’s the elf/human racism that had created that wall and Yavanna had all but torn it down in my life.

He turned and caught me staring, “Yes?” He asked with a smirk. I knew he could see me blushing and it irritated me. “I was just thinking about how long we’ve been friends. Geeze, time flies leaving you wondering where it went.” He gave me a small smile, “The wheels of time never stop spinning. Make the most of life, have no regrets.” As he spoke he took two plates out of the cabinet and filled them with the rosemary chicken and wild rice covered in a raspberry chipotle sauce. “Elf proverb?” I asked with a smile. He lagged sitting down the plate in front me and one at the empty chair across from me. “LeAnne Wolmack. I Hope You Dance.” Grabbing 2 wine glasses he sits and fills both with a sweet red wine. “I never took you for liking country music.” Again he chuckles as he cuts into his chicken, “An elf can’t like country music?” I lift my wine glass and before taking a sip I giggle, “As long as human can like Orc music it’s all good.” His fork stops mid air as he gives me a quizzical look making me bust out laughing. “What? A human can’t like Orc music?” He gives me a look with smoldering silver eyes, “I just never took you as a woman who would like that music, especially with all the classical and classic rock you have on your playlist.” He giggled and I cut into my own chicken. It’s mouth watering good and we eat in silence.

Afterwards, he makes a plate for Yavanna and places it in the frig for her to have later as I clean the table and stove placing the dishes in the dish washer. He joins me handing me rinsed plates to fill it. “Will you tell me what’s really going on?” I asked the question not looking at him. He sighed and dried his hands handing the towel to do the same. “Come.” He says leading to the living room and we sit on the couch. “Yavanna’s father is here, looking for her. He has no rights to her so she won’t be pulled from your custody but I want to make sure you two stay safe. Too much can happen to quickly with an inferni covern leader so, while my team is keeping an eye on him, I’m keeping my eyes on you two.” The news leaves me frozen, of course I expected he would show up but, my gosh, I never allowed myself to think about how dangerous he is. Looking at my hands in my lap I think if the window in Yavanna’s room is locked, is the one in my room locked? As if picking up on my panicked thoughts, he places his hands on my mine, “You’re safe. I’m keeping you both under 24 hour surveillance, when I’m not here, an agent will be watching.” I nodded at his words. Suddenly feeling jittery I stood up and walked to the back door looking out. Jo joined me wanting out so I opened the door and watch as she darts out to run around the yard.

“Kandomere, maybe she would be safer with someone who can protect her.” My heart was breaking as I said the words, she already means so much to me and I didn’t want to loose her but if it meant keeping her safe... I didn’t hear him approach but feel his hands on my shoulders, “She is safer with you because you have opened your heart and let her in. You can protect her Tammy and I will protect you. I swear it.” We stay that way watching Jo for a while longer before I turn to face him. “I don’t want to keep you from your work, I’m sure if anything happens I...” His hand cupping my cheek silences me and for the first time I see his eyes shining like the moon. “I’ll be here, Tammy. If anything happens, I’ll be here.”

A little voice breaks the moment between us, “Ms. Ross? Kandy’er!!! He turns and grabs her as she runs to him. “When did you come here?” She asked with a smile. “I’ve been here a while now. How was your day?” Yavanna smiled a toothy grin, I made some friends and we had yucky lunch and Ms. Ross gave us a snack cause we were hungry.” Kandomere smiles at her, “Sounds like you have a busy day.” She nodded, “And my tummy is hungry again.” He sat her down in a chair and said, “I have just the thing for that.” He popped the plate in microwave and I sat next to her, “Did you sleep well honey?” The little elf nodded, “I had a dream you and Kandy’er made my daddy go away. It was a good dream.” As Kandomere places the plate and a drink in front of her our eyes lock. “We will make him go away.” He promises with a dark look in his eyes.
